Continue ReadingFriday night was full of hoops action across the state but we want to take a closer look at the ENC area. College coaches should keep a close eye on some of the seniors that have been showing out this season so far. Also we saw some recruiting news with players taking visits this weekend as well as picking up scholarship offers.
Laney HS picked up nice production from 2021 Guard Makoa Surigao as he knocked down 7 treys, finishing with 22 Points. Suriago is a guard that has a nice IQ for the game and understands how to make plays for others just as well as he can shoot it from deep.
South Johnston 2020 Forward CJ Ray had a monster game with 29 Points & 18 Rebounds on the night. Ray at 6’3 is one of the better rebounders in the state and is a player that colleges should be keeping a eye on. Don’t let the height fool you, his strength and motor allows him to compete with bigs without any problem.
Riverside HS 2022 Wing Avion Pinner scored 22 Points in their matchup with Pasquotank. Pinner is coming into his own as a player and has a chance to be a really special D1 prospect before its all said and done.
Grace Christian 2020 Guard Phil Martin Jr scored 21 points and dished out 6 Assist. Martin has always been known as a player that can shoot the ball well but he has taken on more of a PG role this season balancing scoring with getting others involved.
Westover HS 2021 Guard D’Marco Dunn picked up an offer from VCU. Dunn is new to the state but hasn’t taken much time to show that he belongs. At 6’4 with a smooth jumpshot and impressive athletic ability, you can see why college coaches are intrigued.
East Carteret 2021 6’5 Wing Bennie Brooks scored 31 points in their matchup Friday night. Brooks has been a player that filled up the stat sheet last year for EC and will look to do the same this year.
CFCA 2020 Forward Jeremyah McWilliams took an unofficial to Bridgewater College this weekend. McWilliams has gotten off to a nice start the season and will be a player that only gets better over the next few years.
