Jordan Thompson | 2020 PG | Southmoore
Jordan Thompson at the 2019 Univ. of Oklahoma Elite CampJordan “J.T.” Thompson has emerged as one of the most talented shooters in Oklahoma. Entering his senior season, J.T. not only looks to back-up a stellar junior season in which Thompson was selected as the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, but he also will vie to lead Southmoore back to the State Tournament, where the SaberCats made a deep run before falling to eventual champion Booker T. Washington in the Semifinal. Now the senior leader on the team, the only thing bigger than the chip on Thompson’s shoulder is his talent.
Ethan Scott | 2022 PG | Mustang
Ethan Scott during his sophomore Summer with Team Buddy BucketsIf you’re looking for the next great shooting talent in Oklahoma, look no further than Ethan Scott. Scott capped off his freshman season at Westmoore by resetting the Jags’ single-game scoring record. Whose record did he beat? His own. The freshman electrified the Westmoore faithful by setting and resetting his own record thrice. After transferring to Mustang before his sophomore season, Scott is primed to level-up this season. The younger cousin of Clemson hooper Curran Scott, he has big-time skill in his genealogy.

Rondel Walker | 2020 Combo | Putnam City West
Rondel Walker (middle) during his commitment to Okla. State. You may be tired of hearing about Oklahoma State-signee Rondel Walker. But I promise that defenders are a lot more tired of guarding Rondel Walker.
Among Walker’s many talents, he’s quite privy to making defenders regret not stepping out to guard him. He likes to stretch defenses by taking long shots, and his 6-foot-4-inch frame aids him in finishing shots over tall players. He has one of the most consistent, accurate strokes you’ll see in Oklahoma, and now that he has a vengeance to quench, it’s only a matter of time before Walker dominates local headlines with big shooting performances. See his most recent bout, here:

“I can’t emphasize it enough. . . this year is personal,” Walker said.
Kalub Hunt | 2020 SF | Newscastle
Kalub Hunt at the 2019 Reynolds leagueKalub Hunt is one of the most intriguing athletes in the South-OKC basketball scene. Hunt has the frame of a linebacker, but the grace, finesse and ball-skill of a quarterback; that includes shooting the rock. He’s an archer from long-range, able to launch shots from well beyond the 3-point line and damage opposing defenses with unprecedented accuracy, unlike what you would expect from a swingman. He refuses to resign to the corners or high post, but can bring the ball up the floor and take a shot out of the dribble seamlessly. Newcastle will have a spectacle every Tuesday and Friday night for the next few weeks, and you won’t be disappointed if you take a trip over to see it for yourself.
Sean Pedulla | 2021 PG | Edmond Memorial
Sean PedullaYou can’t talk about the most explosive shooters in Oklahoma with giving a nod to Sean Pedulla. Following a stellar sophomore season and junior Summer, Pedulla’s stock is undeniable as he received his first Division-I offer from Texas State in August. The 5-foot-11 junior makes up for his lack of stature with a bag full of skill and a high iQ. He has a lightning-quick release and a nearly identical stroke every time he sizes the basket up. With the graduation of a couple of Memorial’s key shooters, Pedulla’s offensive role will inevitably increase, and his bread-and-butter skill is sinking shots — and a lot of them.

Kevin Overton | 2022 W | Midwest City
Midwest City star sophomore Kevin “KO” Overton returns for his sophomore year after an impressive freshman campaign for the Bombers. Overton was an efficient shooter last season, who could convert on two-or-more 3-pointers on any night; a rarity for a young talent at the top level of Oklahoma high school basketball. A confident shooter, KO will be expected to make more of a splash this season for the Bombers.
Ben Emmert | 2020 W | Norman
Ben EmmertThe Norman Tigers are bound to turn some heads in 2020 if Ben Emmert has anything to say about it. Emmert returns after leading Norman in scoring in his junior year and will surely be accountable for much of the Tigers’ production beyond the 3-point line this season. The 6-foot-5-inch scoring guard has a benefit to his game that other shooters may not implore: the ability to score inside. His talent was evident last February in a 9-point loss to first-ranked Edmond Memorial where the then-junior converted on a septuplet of 3-pointers, accounting for almost two-thirds of the Tigers’ point-total.

Reid Lovelace | 2022 G | Crossings Christian
Reid LovelaceReid Lovelace was an outstanding face in Oklahoma’s freshman class last year, shooting 40 percent from the field and accounting for 14.1 points-a-night — both were team-highs. Lovelace’s shooting capabilities are expected to be an even-more integral facet to CCS’s production this season. Young, talented shooters with Lovelace’s accuracy and efficiency are few-and-far-between. He also averaged almost three made 3-pointers per-game, a mark that few can say they hit. The sophomore has a fun year ahead of him.
James Locke | 2021 G | Carl Albert
James Locke has the clutch gene that so many players strive for; his most impressive performance came against Del City last season, where the sophomore hit three 3-pointers in the closing minutes of the game. Though the Titans would lose to the Eagles by 2 points, Locke’s performance was undoubtedly a high point, and he used that confidence throughout the remainder of the season to propel his shooting. Locke has the potential to establish himself among the elite tier of high school hoopers in Oklahoma City this season thanks to his scoring talents.
Christian Cook | 2020 SG | Midwest City
Christian Cook during his senior Summer. It’s no question that Christian Cook has come-by his reputation as one of the most explosive players in the state averse of his own warrant. However, many on-lookers may overlook Cook’s impressive shooting skills. Though he isn’t known for it, Cook is a frighteningly talented shooter, especially out of the catch and from long-range. He’s concentrated when shooting the ball and smooth as water, appearing to flick the ball from his wrist effortlessly with each attempt. Defenders should be weary of Cook’s talent from the perimeter, but should not hesitate caution from blowing-by the quick guard — you may end up on @PrepHoopsOK.
Landry Harris | 2021 PG | Edmond North
Landry HarrisLandry Harris’s shooting skills from the dribble lifted Edmond North last season, allowing the Huskies to play against a stretched defense and freeing other shooters along the perimeter, as well (see below). The junior is best when he exercises his freedom to take deep shots while still being conservative on his share of the ball. Harris is an all-around impressive offensive talent; whether it’s scoring, passing or rebounding, Harris is skilled and confident enough to get the job done. His whatever-it-takes mentality carries into his ability to launch the ball from long distance.
Josh Price | 2021 W | Edmond North
Josh PriceThe best shooter you may not know is Edmond North junior Josh Price. Price saw significant minutes off-the-bench at North last season and had a few shining moments hitting shots from long-range, especially in the Carl Albert Tournament . A big AAU season, however, put Price in the mix with some of the best shooters in the Prep Hoops circuit. His Summer confidence has, thus-far, carried into the preseason, and he’s already starting to generate buzz around Edmond as a breakout player to pay attention to.
