Continue ReadingKalub Hunt is a Guard/Wing for Newcastle High School. He plays his grassroots ball for BTR in the summer. Last season for Newcastle, he averaged 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.
He has the ability to play both the two and the three because of his athleticism. He is a strong three-point shooter with the ability to get to the basket as well. Getting to the basket is one of Hunt’s strongest attributes. He can change the momentum of a game with his ability to throw down an electrifying dunk. While he is strong in those two areas, he has spent this offseason working on his mid-range game to be able to score at all three levels.
Hunt’s recruitment has just started to gain traction. He has yet to be on an official recruiting visits, but he does hold one offer. He has been offered by Redland’s Community College in El Reno, OK.
This season Hunt has goals that will make him better as a player and improve his recruitment at the same time.
“I want to become a better leader and get more offers,” said Hunt.
As for his team goals this season, Hunt wants to take the Racers to the state tournament. The ultimate goal for Newcastle and Hunt is to win the state title.
As for what Hunt is looking for in a college it’s simple for him. He wants to go to a place that feels like family to him. He wants to be able to be himself as he pursues his ultimate goal of making it to the NBA. While that is a lofty goal Hunt realizes that he needs a back-up plan.
“I would like to play in the NBA, but if not I want to go to college for sports broadcasting,” said Hunt.
