Continue ReadingBaron Hopgood is a 6’3 Wing out of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is currently homeschooled but plays his grassroots ball with Team Griffin during the summers. Last season for Deer Creek, he averaged 17 points, 3 assists, 7 rebounds, 6 steals, and 3 blocks per game. This upcoming season he plans on playing for the Oklahoma Shock.
Hopgood is a strong defender with the ability to lock down his man and limit his effectiveness during a game. No matter who he is matched up against, Hopgood makes them work to be able to be effective. He also has a good knack at being able to get to the rim and score. He is a tough, physical player that thrives in situations that get rough. He does not lack in confidence and that confidence gives him the ability to go at any opponent.
During this offseason, Hopgood has been working on improving his game in ways that will round out his game. He has been working to become a better ball handler to be able to protect the ball. He also has been improving his shot during this time. The combination of those two could spur a few new moves on the offensive side of the ball.
Hopgood does not think that he is getting the exposure he is warranted. This season he wants to prove something as his personal goal.
“I am underrated,” said Hopgood. “I want to get my name out there.”
As for a potential college that he is looking at, Hopgood wants to go somewhere that he can get a good education. He is not too worried about the team and he feels that he could fit into any team.
