Unique thing is that these players get it done in different ways. Making each one better and better to watch.
Here we take a look at part four of the scorers to watch, as we keep it rolling.
Prospects:
Dylan Herbert (6’0” / G 2020 / Buckeye Valley): Herbert remains a sleeper in the class of 2020, but he shouldn’t be. In the last couple years the senior has led Buckeye Valley in scoring. Herbert isn’t the biggest but he’s athletic, can shoot and get to the rack. The Barons are moving from the MOAC, so they will see some unfamiliar faces. This might benefit Herbert and lead to some high scoring games. Expect the Baron to once again put up a lot of points this season.
Luke Lachey (6’6” / PF 2020 / Grandview Heights): Grandview has a duo that can really score it. As we talked about Brian Collier earlier in the week, the focus turns to Luke Lancet. The Iowa football commit is a big-time matchup problem for most teams they will face. Simply taller and longer, Luke scores a lot at the rim as he works as hard as anyone. Scored in the mid-teens last year, Lachey could see a jump in his scoring. Grandview lost some scoring and will need to replace that if they want to make a run in Division IV.
Brock Unger (6’5” / 2021 / Berne Union): A smaller school name that we have talked about before is Brock Unger. The junior can really score it and is the anchor of a solid Berne Union school. Brock is a catch-and-shoot threat from all over. Also, a wing that can handle it. The go-to scoring threat could keep it around 20 points a contest this year, as he’s a tough player to matchup with for many.
Nate Griggs (5’11” / PG 2020 / Delaware Hayes): Pound for pound I think Griggs is one of the toughest guards in the area at times. Hayes lost one of their top scorers in Terin Kinsway that they will definitely miss. The senior point guard stayed around 15-16 a game last year and showed he can score it from different areas, including the basket. With a new coach for Hayes it’s hard to predict the system they will operate, but you can expect their lead guard to put the ball in the hoop.
Chance Groce (6’5” / WG 2021 / Linden-McKinley): I watched Groce a couple weeks ago at the Hidden Gems event. The junior has a size advantage against most guards and even many wings. Handles the ball a ton and has been that dude for Linden in the past, and that’ll continue. The 6-5 guard can score it off the dribble or at the rim. Must mention the shot seems improved and will definitely benefit his game. Another player that will improve his scoring from last season, and be one of the better in the area.
