In the best turnout yet, over 100 prospects gathered to showcase their skills in front of over a dozen college coaches and evaluators. This event is always a perfect opportunity to find players who have flown under the radar and for the ones that are already talked about, a chance to prove themselves against great competition.
For this article, we’ll take a look at the recruitment of a number of players who attended on Saturday.
Tyrae Washington | 6’7 | ’20 Takoma Academy
Washington has been on a steady incline since the summer began. The 6-foot-8 versatile forward is an atheltic finisher that can mix it up as a scorer and can be a dominant defender who guards multiple position. Witchita St., Radford, UMass-Lowell and Jacksonville St. are all schools that have reached out to Washington recently. Don’t be surprised if more programs that are considered mid-major begin to get involved with the Takoma Academy transfer.
Jared Billups | 6’6 | ’21 McDonogh
This will be a huge year for Billups as he develops into his body at 6-foot-6. His athleticism is beginning to reach scary heights and his all around game continues to sharpen. Billups holds offers from Loyola (MD), UMass-Lowell, Bryant and Mount St. Mary’s, but has been getting a ton of mid-major interest in fall workouts this month. Expect a few offers to come his way in the near future and his recruitment to really pick up.
Ryan Prather Jr. | 6’4 | ’21 Clarksburg
Prather has been on a steady incline since summer began and he capped his off-season off with a top-notch performance at the Top 250 Expo. I expect schools from both Division II and Division III to court the 6-foot-4 bruising guard heavily. He is even starting to hear from Division I programs such as James Madison and Mount St. Mary’s.
Brendan Davis | 6’0 | ’20 Broadneck
Davis will be a nice get for any Division III program that his recruiting him. The 6-foot southpaw has been involved with Franklin & Marshall, Salisbury and Catholic. Davis is a good decision maker with the ball, can knock down jump shots with efficiency and has the tools to be a very productive point guard at the next level.
Logan Vican | 6’9 | ’20 Broadneck
Vican brings size and versatility at 6-foot-9. He can knock down the outside shot while also being an effective threat from the block. The big need with him is to put on weight. If he does, I wouldn’t be shocked to see a low-major Division I program take a flyer on him. More than a handful of Division III programs have been involved with Vican. American, Mount St. Mary’s and Navy have also expressed interest in him, but I’m assuming they want to see a little more from Vican his senior year before one officially offers.
Terrence Butler Jr. | 6’7 | ’21 Bishop McNamara
Butler currently holds two offers from Drexel and James Madison, but there are a bevy of schools showing interest in the 6-foot-7 lefty forward. The list is quite extensive, but a few high majors such as Kansas and Notre Dame have reached out recently to host Butler on a visit. George Mason, Yale, Vermont, and Holy Cross have been in consistent contact as well. Butler is a prospect with high upside and has continued to add value by polishing his perimeter game.
Cam Sapienza | 6’1 | ’20 Mount St. Joe
Sapienza has emerged as a highly sough after prospect by many good Division III programs. Stevenson has shown the most interest while others such as Washington College, Franklin & Marshall, Catholic, and Muhlenburg have had the sharpshooter on campus. Frostburg wants to host him for an unofficial visit after his performance at the Top 250, becoming the first Division II school to do so.
