The gymnasium was electrifying, I could feel the liveliness the moment I entered into the building. Players from around Georgia and surrounding states had the opportunity to display their talent.
I had a chance to watch the All-Star Game and I was impressed with the versatility of many players. Among the sea of participants Emanuel Lanier, Gage Herndon and Jadyn Shider stood out as efficient playmakers with skills that set them apart from their competition.
Emanuel Lanier, 2020, 5’10 senior at Claxton High School. Lanier is more than your average point guard, he’s a competitive floor general. He handles the ball like a true point guard, provides leadership and makes great play-making decisions . Lanier’s passing ability allows him to create offense and get others involved. He plays with heart and leaves everything on the floor. “I’m a competitive player. I wanted to be here this weekend because of my love for basketball,” said Lanier on his participation in KB Sports All-Star Weekend.
Gage Herndon, 2022, 6’2 sophomore at Toombs County High School. Herndon isn’t your average forward. He plays hard-nosed defense, attacks the rim and hustles on both ends of the floor. His style of play is multifaceted. I enjoyed his aggressiveness and capability to make plays when necessary. When asked about his strengths Herndon said, “I’m great at finishing around the rim, driving to the basket and playing post defense.”
Jadyn Shider, 2021, 6’5 junior at Dougherty High School. Shider is an explosive center who can also play the power forward position. Don’t expect him to sit on the block and post-up. He’s a versatile big man that has ball handling skills and can go from coast to coast. Shider plays with intense energy. He’s bouncy and can dribble like a guard. “I’m good at driving to the basket and rebounding, said Shider.”
