The 6-foot-4 2020 wing from Valencia High School earned All Prep Hoops Circuit honors this 17u season putting numbers in the books with consistency.
“With LA Elite I learned how to play more with the ball out of my hands and how to use screens to get open,” Jake said. “Also, how to play better defense using communication. As for off the floor it taught me to be discipline in everything i do and be responsible for my actions.”
What was the best moments, the top memories of the 17u season?
“I would say getting to play with other top tier players and make strong bonds with those guys,” Jake said. “Also, being able to travel to tournaments out of state and also winning the first Prep Hoops tournament.”
Another big part of the summer for Jake was the schools now in contact with about playing college basketball.
“Over the summer I did an unofficial at Sacramento State and I’m hearing from them, Western Oregon, Chico State, Whitman, Redlands, and Navy for the most part.”
What is Jake looking for in a school?
“Whatever the best fit is, somewhere where I fill comfortable with the players and the coaching staff,” Jake said.
He’s now back at school getting ready for his senior year. As a junior Jake collected multiple player of the week awards and set a school record for threes made. Every day is a grind to get better.
“I want to improve by getting in the weight room more, getting to know all my teammates very well, and figure out our tendencies. My expectations are that we win a Foothill League title here at Valencia and compete for CIF and state titles.”
