The three-day Jeremy Ballard/FIU Basketball Camp is being held in Miami this weekend. The semifinals and championship game are Sunday afternoon. Here are the top notes from Saturday.

Taylor back with Gulliver Prep

Senior guard Gabe Taylor, the younger brother of the late Sean Taylor, played with Miami Palmetto this summer. I looked on as the talented 5-foot-8 guard poured in 23 points for Palmetto vs. Riviera Prep at the Rumble in Hialeah Team Camp. But Taylor appears to have decided to go back to Gulliver Prep. He was playing with the Raiders on Saturday at the FIU Camp. Taylor started and averaged 16 points and 4.2 assists as a junior at Gulliver Prep.

... Gulliver Prep also has a new head coach: Gary DeCesare took over Aug. 1, replacing Manny Bloom. DeCesare spent the past 10 seasons at Chicago St. Rita. Prior to that DeCesare built St. Raymond's in the Bronx (N.Y.) into a national powerhouse.

Reneau, Josue & Mater impress

Miami High played Mater Academy to a one-point game, 20-19, in the first half. The second half was ALL Malik Reneau and Isaiah Josue. Reneau -- a talented Class of 2022 post -- poured in 26 points, 15 in the final 20 minutes, in the 55-40 victory. Josue -- an athletic 6-3 2020 guard who holds an offer from Southeast Missouri State -- added 15 points. He did a lot of his damage on defense, poking away steals and going in for layups. Mater Academy (4-0) is one of four teams that are unbeaten going to the final day. Team Latinos is also 4-0, while Westminster Christian and Triple Threat went 3-0.

2021 Fowler turning heads

A player who raised his stock is Miami High 6-1 2021 guard Darius Fowler. Fowler canned two 3-pointers in the loss to Mater, showed he could drive the ball with success and hit his free throws when he earned the harm. Fowler finished with 12 points to go with 2021 Justin Neely's 14.

Lane transfers to Coral Gables

Coral Gables already had a talented, young squad with 2022s Kuran Bryant and Romulo Delgado, and 2021s Walter Daniels and Desmond Romer. Now you can add 6-7 2021 Jimel Lane. Lane transferred to Coral Gables from Coral Reef, coach Tico Govea confirmed. Govea said Penn State is looking at Lane, Delgado and Romer. FSU also likes Romer.

Guards lead Triple Threat

Miami Triple Threat is tough to slow down. 2020 Jose-Luis Benitez leads a talented group of guards. Also keep an eye out for 2020 Cedrick St. Jean, 2021 Francisco Barea and 2022 Reiner Obray. "I think we're going to have one of the best back courts in the state," Schoolhouse Prep coach Colin Campbell said.
