At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter, once you get that free education. Each potential division has sleepers, no matter if it is D1 or D3.
In this article, I’m highlighting some sleepers to note. Primarily D2-D3 prospects, of the next level.
Prospects:
• Ethan Bell (5’9” / PG 2021 / River Valley / Extreme Heat): Ethan Bell put up a lot of points as a sophomore at River Valley. Also, the assists were there too. Despite little team success, Bell was solid. Even though he’s under six-foot he gets to the rack and can score with either hand. But, a solid shooter from deep as well. Which, really opens up his game even more. Court vision has always been a noticeable attribute to his game. Hitting open teammates, getting the ball up court and threading the needle are all in his game. With the graduation of the teams leading scorer, Bell could see a jump in his production even more. D3 schools should definitely give Ethan a look.
• Carter Jones (6’4” / WF 2021 / Centerburg / Mid Ohio Pumas): Another one of those “small school” impact players that can absolutely play at the next level. Has grown a bit over the summer, which helps tremendously. Getting stronger and building muscle, Jones is developing his inside game. The lefty can shoot it at a solid clip from deep, with a smooth shot. Dominates his school league, as the best prospect already. I think D2 schools should definitely give this one a look.
• Aaron Davis (6’0” / G 2021 / Woodward / Ohio Players): I’ve watched Aaron Davis quite a bit this summer. One thing has been a common occurrence, he gets better each time. A player that can play on or off-ball. A willing defender that works well, with good lateral movement. Davis, gets to the hoop pretty strong, and finishes. When I have watched him, he has gotten to the charity strike quite a bit. I think the junior could be a breakout candidate in a talented backcourt this winter.
• Dylan Herbert (6’0” / CG 2020 / Buckeye Valley): Herbert is a very underrated prospect in the 2020 class. Lacking size, but makes up for it with his ability to create space and score at will. Anywhere in the half court, Herbert can get a bucket. Has a quick first step and finishes acrobatically around the hoop. Also, has the ability to get teammates involved, but known as a scorer. Four year varsity player that has been BV’s top player each season. Could be a legit scoring threat at the D3 level.
• Riley Gibson (6’0” / PG 2021 / Circleville / Mid Ohio Pumas-Gilliland): Riley Gibson is probably one of the top “small school” players in Central Ohio. Gibson brings a knack of scoring the ball, every time he steps on the court. Gibson works decent off ball, but thrives with the ball in his hands. Gets through the lane and finishes tough at the rack. Has a quick release that can fly with little space. Makes those winning plays that you want to see. Honestly, Gibson is a fun player to watch, if you have the chance, take advantage. The junior is a legit college prospect, for sure.
