On The Radar (Part I)
Koat Keat, 2022, Renaissance Academy
Keat displayed an intriguing skill set for a 6-foot-9 forward with plenty of high school ball left to be played. Keat created off the bounce with a confident handle and got to the front of the rim for power and finesse finishes with ease. The rising sophomore also dished to open teammates out of the low and high post.
Adam Weingard, 2020, San Juan Hills
Weingard was one of the most pure shooters at the event. The 6-foot-5 senior-to-be has as fundamental and repeatable shooting mechanics as you’ll find and doesn’t need much time or space to get his shot off. Weingard showed a high basketball IQ with his shot selection and patience on the offensive end.
Class of 2021 PG Lee Hubbard III stood out at the Pangos Premier 80 with his vision, pace and willingness to set his teammates up.Lee Hubbard III, 2021, Archbishop Riordan
Hubbard stood out in a way that most others don’t: By passing the rock and not forcing the issue. The 6-foot-1 Bay Area guard moved the ball ahead in transition, found teammates off of drive and kick action and showed good feel out of pick and roll action with accurate pocket passes and reading defenses.
Jake Holtz, 2020, Damien Memorial (HI)
Holtz is a strong and physical forward who wasn’t afraid to mix it up in the paint. The 6-foot-5 rising senior showed the ability to grab rebounds at a high rate both in and out of his space and guard multiple positions defensively. Holt was a load to handle on the offensive glass, creating easy buckets for himself through second chance opportunities.
Rameon Witt, Jr., 2020 Valley Academy
Witt was another perimeter shooter who stood out with his smooth mechanics and ability to hit from multiple spots and multiple distances behind the arc. Witt has good size at 6-feet-4 and is consistent both off the catch and when trailing the play in transition.
