I hope you enjoy!
Garvin Clark (2020) | 6-0 CG | Cleveland Heights | All Ohio Red
A strong and athletic guard who in my opinion is more of a off guard/scoring guard then a true point. Very good spot up shooter and a very good driver to the cup who uses his strength to be able to finish effectively in space. With his quickness and strength, has the ability to be a very good to an elite defender if he commits to that. Needs to continue to develop a mid-range jumper and continue to be a better distributor for others. If he can do that, he has a very bright future at the next level.
Jared Frey (2022) | 6-4 OG | St. Charles | All Ohio Red 2022
Jared is a lefty wing who has a ton of potential. Can really shoot it, has great size for a true OG/SF with the potential to grow. Can score in a lot of way, including getting to the FT line. The biggest thing I saw in the couple times I saw him was his motor. While super talented and the sky’s the limit for him, he must continue to work on playing hard, especially on the defensive end and on the boards. Those 2 things will determine if he plays in a Big 5 conference or not. He has all the tools to be one of the best players in the state.
Jamarr Talbert (2021) | 6-1 CG | Richmond Hts | All Ohio Red 2021
Jamarr really played well in the couple games I saw him play. While he is more of a wing/off guard, he did well at the point filling in for Sullinger at times. Very good athlete with a very good frame where he can fill out. I at his best right now filling the lanes and finishing in traffic in transition. Must continue to get better shooting the ball, but if he makes a commitment there, he has a really good chance of jumping up in the rankings and catching the attention of a lot of coaches in the next 12 months.
Bowen Hardman (2022) | 6-4 OG/SF | Princeton | All Ohio Red 2022
Big time shooter. May have the purest shooting stroke I saw all weekend. He is not bad off the bounce, but he must play off his strengths which is his ability to shoot the 3. While I did not see him do much, would love to see his footwork coming off screens. If he works on having great footwork there, he will have a chance to play at a lot of places. Finally, he is a good enough athlete to be a plus defender. If he finds the right fit and continues to develop, I look forward to seeing where he will end up in 3 years.
Jonah Waag (2022) | 6-2 OG | VASJ | TNBA Ohio 2021
Jonah played very well this weekend. A sneaky athlete, Waag is skilled and can make plays off the bounce in addition to being an above average catch and shoot shooter. He is also a very good finisher around the rim. Has a good frame to put on strength/muscle when he gets into a big time strength program has a chance to re-define his body and continue to become more athletic.
Corey Tripp (2021) | 6-0 OG | Medina | SMAC Akron
Corey is a big strong wing who can do a lot on the offensive side of the ball. While I did not see him shoot much from behind the arc, he was very good both in the mid-range and to the basket. His footwork with the ball and off the ball make him a very dangerous offensive threat and someone who could possibly be a sleeper in the next 12 months. The 2 biggest things he needs to do is get in the gym and develop and consistent perimeter jumper and also dedicate himself to become an elite defender and more of a rebounder, especially with his strength and athleticism.
Dan Wagner (2022) | 5-11 OG | Aftricetric | All Ohio Red 2022
While he has the size more of a point, right now to me, he is strictly an off guard. With that in mind, this lefty is a very good shooter who is best behind the arc when his feet are set. While he can handle it and make plays for himself, he must continue to work on his passing and ability to create and/or setup his teammates to transition to more of a point guard. If not, he will be limited with his height.
Marcus Steele (2021) | 6-0 CG | Salon | SMAC Akron
Tripp’s teammate with SMAC Akron, I look for Marcus to be one of the top sleepers/surprises of the summer. He can play both on and off the ball, but I see his future as more of a point/combo then a true OG. He is a good athlete who can shoot the ball both in the mid-range and from 3. He is a good athlete to get around guys on the perimeter. He is also has the ability to defend both the point and on the wing. I look forward to seeing how far he grows this winter and I hope he uses this summer to gain confidence to take his game to the next level.
