I was impressed with many, but I narrowed it down to a few, which I highlight here.
Prospects:
• MJ Warrior (6’2” / CG 2022 / BTR): MJ Warrior is a scoring threat that plays with high energy. Has a mean pull up shot that often drops, can get to the hoop with quickness as well. Warrior gets up and down court in a blur. Will contest shots, solid player. Also, takes care of business at the line.
• Connor Calavan (6’4” / WG 2020 / Tulsa Hawks Elite 17U): Shooters shoot they say, and that’s exactly what Connor Calavan does. Not the quickest of releases, but Calavan often gets open looks on kick outs, and by correctly filling the lane. Probably the most consistent shooter I watched.
• Ronnie Dixon Jr. (6’1” / G 2022 / Team Buddy Buckets Rising Elite): Dixon is a quick guard, that is on a mission. Gets to his spots, has a quick first step and moves the ball well. Has a nice stepback shot drops often, for him. Athletic, strong from the guard spot, always moving.
• David Castillo (6’0” / G 2024 / Buddy Buckets): A name to look forward to in a few years. I normally don’t like to scout younger then the freshman class, but this one is different. Castillo plays up with 15U and holds his own. Grabs loose balls, finishes at the rim. A spot up shooter from deep that has a nice jumper. Could be a bright future for this player.
• Ethan Oakley (6’4” / WF 2022 / Tulsa Titans 15U): Oakley has a strong build, that simply he uses to his advantage. Not a player with much athleticism, uses strength in post, and on put backs. Fights for loose balls, rejects shots and is always looking for a rebound to grab.
