MVP: Redrick Hill, East Coast United
Redrick Hill was impressive with his ability to rebound, defend and stretch the floor with his shooting. He’s a 6-foot-6 forward that can play on the interior as well as on the wing. He showed he can knock down the 3-point shot at a consistent rate.
Hill led the division in 3-pointers made with 14. He stretched the floor with his outside shot and in the title game, he made five 3-pointers and finished with 16 points.
Kevin Chandler, East Coast United
Kevin Chandler was impressive in the backcourt all weekend for East Coast United. He put up 19.0 points per game as his squad went unbeaten in the BigShots Myrtle Beach Finale.
Chandler shared co-MVP honors with his teammate Redrick Hill after their victory in Sunday’s title game. He showed off his ability to score on all three levels with a 24-point performance behind three made 3-pointers and a slew of attacks to the basket.
Jordan Jones, Carolina Dream Team
Jordan Jones showed off his ability to score in bunches in the final AAU weekend. He led the 17U division in scoring average with 22.7 points per game for the Carolina Dream Team. He’s a player to watch heading into the high school season.
Jones put up 28 points during his second game in pool play, scoring from inside and outside the arc all game long. He’s a solid shooter from the arc and can get to the rim whenever he wants. He’s a 2020 prospect that should draw tons of interest as his final high school season approaches.
Parker Grant, SC Kings
Parker Grant was an explosive guard to watch this past weekend for the South Carolina Kings. Grant finished second in scoring average (22.5 ppg) at the BigShots Myrtle Beach Finale.
He posted 26 points against Flight 22 UA Rise, though it came in a 10-point defeat. He scored on all three levels against multiple opponents and showed his ability to get to the rim and finish through contact.
Ricky Council IV, Flight 22 UA Rise
Ricky Council IV was one of the standout performers from a talented Flight 22 UA Rise squad that featured Jordan McNeill, Phillip Martin, Yates Johnson and Khalil Marshall. Council showed he could flow in the offense as the No. 1 scoring option. He led the division in total points (102), free throws made (24) and averaged 20.4 points per game on the weekend for Flight 22 .
His length and ability to finish strong at the rim off the dribble stood out the most. There’s a reason a lot of Division 1 programs are seeking his services on the hardwood.
Josh Massey, Team United EYBL
Josh Massey showed more consistency as the lead scoring option for Team United EYBL. He averaged 20.5 points per game (fourth in the division) and showed his strength alongside Destin Clark in the backcourt.
He got to the rim with ease on multiple occasions and finished with ease and had multiple finishes above the rim as well. He also showed an added stroke behind the arc when needed. Massey will be one of the sleeper prospects to watch this fall at United Faith Christian Academy.
