Prospect Spotlight: Hunter Farr (2021)
Last season, Hunter Farr was a role player for a Winterset Huskies team that advanced to the Class 3A semifinals. This season, expect his role to increase dramatically.
Farr was excellent last weekend at the Grand View Team Camp, both offensively and defensively. He’s looking forward to playing a bigger role with the Huskies next season.
“I think my role last year with the high school team was to be more of a shooter, but I’m trying to expand on that and work on my shot a little bit more. I’ve been in the gym working on that,” said Farr.
“I was just more of a catch and shoot type guy last year with Casey (Kleemeier) and Easton (Darling) scoring a lot. So, I think my game might expand a little bit more this year, so I’m trying to expand my game and work on my ball-handling.”
As a sophomore on the state semifina;l squad, Farr averaged 6.5 points per game. He says the team enjoyed playing the underdog role all season.
“I think a lot of people didn’t expect us to go, and the best part about it was proving people wrong,” said Farr. “My role was more of a catch and shoot guy, but to help Casey get to state, that was fun, too.”
Farr added: “Next year, more people are going to have to step up a little but, but I think we could do it again, I think we’re capable.”
This summer, Farr, a 6-foot guard, will again play with Kingdom Hoops. He was busy with that program this spring.
“I’m excited to get back with them in July, and I’m hoping to maybe gain some college interest,” said Farr. “Playing with Kingdom helps, because it really is a faster and more physical game.”
Recruitment: “I’ve received some emails from smaller schools asking me to come to their camps. After the Prep Hoops camp I received interest from William Penn and Buena Vista. I’m trying to get my name out there a little more, and maybe get some attention this July.”
