Prospect Spotlight: 2021 Devon Savage

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">2021 guard <strong>Devon Savage</strong> recently transferred from St. John’s to <strong>Riverdale Baptist</strong> and the move definitely looks to have paid off for him as he is having a good summer league. During summer league he is averaging 16.0 points per game and is looking to be one of the top scorers in the area for the 2021 class. He talked about his move to Riverdale with Prep Hoops.</span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> “It has been good, we are still trying to get used to playing with each other. Defensively, we need to get better in half court so that is what we are still working on. “Individually it has been good too, I have been working out everyday with the coaches, getting shots up so it has been good.”</span></p> <p>For the 16u <strong>Team Takeover</strong> team, he is an important piece and he has is eye on winning Peach Jam which takes place in July.</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“It has been good, I am looking forward to going to <strong>Peach Jam</strong> with Team Takeover, we are looking to do good and trying to win it.”</span></p> <p>One thing that has stood out during summer league is his leadership he has brought over to Riverdale and he spoke on that.</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I want to be known as a very vocal person, I always want to hype my teammates up and always try to get them more involved with the game.”</span></p> <p>Recently college coaches were allowed to directly contact 2021 prospects and he said he heard from, "<span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Butler</strong>, <strong>St. Joe’s</strong>, and <strong>Delaware State</strong>.” </span></p> <p>Butler has landed a few kids from the DMV in the recent years and Savage could be another one that ends up there.</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I know <strong>Aaron Thompson</strong> the point guard up there so I am familiar with the Big East and I like Butler.”</span></p> <p>When asked if he is trying to take an visits soon, he said, "I am in the works on scheduling a visit to <strong>Delaware State</strong>."</p> <p>He talked about his relationship with the MEAC program, <span style="font-weight: 400;">“They are texting me here and there but have recently showed a lot of interest.”</span></p>
