In his third year at Onalaska, Stuttley scored 15.2 points per game and led the Hilltoppers to a 20-5 record. However, he has not yet garnered the respect he deserves. With his senior season quickly approaching, the 6’4″ wing will look to conclude his high school career on the right note.
Stuttley’s junior season yielded the type of success that he had hoped for. “It was a great season. I felt like I improved a lot since my sophomore year. I felt like the team improved as a whole too. But, we still have to improve on a lot before next season,” stated Stuttley. Topping his terrific junior season is a task much easier said than done; but one that is definitely achievable. He already has sizable goals for his senior campaign. “Some goals for this season is to win the conference since we haven’t won in a while. And then just make a deep playoff run that hopefully ends at the Kohl Center,” stated Stuttley. With Lacrosse Central returning the same core of players, the Mississippi Valley Conference is still the Red Raiders’ to lose but Onalaska could be gaining some ground on Central.
Stuttley will soon flip the page to his senior season, but right now he is focused on elevating his stock on the AAU Circuit. Playing with Wisconsin Premier, Stuttley says, “My spring has gone good. I’ve played well personally and also my team has played well too. This spring has just been for me to get better and get looks from colleges and work on what I need to improve on for next season.”
Like every basketball player, Stuttley’s game remains unperfected. He does have many strengths, however. He is able to use these stregths to his advantage. “I feel like my strengths are finishing at the rim and just being able to absorb contact.” He continued to say, “I also feel like my first step is pretty quick so I can get past defenders.” He also said that he feels that his court vision helps him succeed because he can find his teammates easily.
Despite a great junior year and a great spring AAU session, Stuttley’s recruitment has yet to take off. The Onalaska star says that Winona State, St. Norbert, and UW Oshkosh are the first schools who are showing some interest.
It is not how you start, it is how you finish. Tyrell Stuttley Tyrell Stuttley 6'4" | PF Onalaska | 2020 State WI may currently be viewed as a second-tier player in the state of Wisconsin, but his final go-round at Onalaska should change that false perception.
