The 5-foot-8-inch, 155-pound floor general was fantastic offensively, both as a passer and as a scorer. He successfully split the Edmond Memorial defense on multiple occasions and was an elite finisher at the rim.
His speed and craftiness when handling the ball allowed him to get separation, qualities he was among the best present at the camp.
“My quickness to the basket and grit,” said Simpson, on his success at the team camp.
This summer, Simpson said he plans to improve his shot above all else.
“I’ve been watching YouTube videos, getting reps on the gun,” said Simpson. “It’s a process, but my shot has improved exponentially from last year.”
Defensively, Simpson may be equally as talented. He can stop the show for opposing guards and keep shot-production at bay. He has lock-down-type lateral quickness and has a strong frame.
Simpson projects himself as a college basketball athlete and believes he has the work ethic to speak his dreams into existence.
“(I hope) Division-I for sure, but I will go anywhere that I can play,” said Simpson.
He also has one message for college coaches who wish to know more about his style and his abilities.
“I don’t quit and I will outwork you,” said Simpson.
As for the Bartlesville Bruins, the senior leader has one mission for 2019-2020.
“Make State,” Simpson said.
