2021 Sleeper Post Prospects

Who are some sleepers at the post positions in the 2021 class?  Let’s give a look at a group of power forwards and centers who might be flying under the radar heading into July!

Walter Mattingly Walter Mattingly 6'6" | SF Deerfield | 2021 State IL (Deerfield)

Good size, long arms, and projectability to both add strength as well as continue to grow vertically.  In the paint he displays touch around the rim along with a strong right handed hook shot.  Can face up and handle it too with takes from the high-post area.  Handles very well for his size.

Braman is a big time sleeper from central Illinois.  Excellent area rebounder that snatches boards in traffic.  Nice combination of toughness and skill on the block. 

Darrell Reed (TF North)

Reed is a tough and rugged four man that rebounds at a very high level.  Toughness around the hoop and throws down huge dunks!

Thick bodied five man actually is an excellent shooter spacing the floor.  Staying in top physical condition will have a lot to do with how he develops over the next year.

The long and lanky five man finishes well on his touches inside.  Long term play with his projectability.

The 2021 four man has broad shoulders with good strength.  He mauls on the offensive glass for second chance points and clears them on the defensive end.  Shot blocking presence as well.

Hanson was one of the best rebounders from Illinois at the 16U level on the PrepHoops Circuit.  Aggressive going after rebounds in traffic.

Joe Melton Joe Melton 6'6" | C Ncoe | 2021 State IL (Norris City Omaha Enfield)

The sophomore has size, length, and a frame to add strength.  His footwork in the paint and ability to finish down low stand out.  Receives the ball well opening up wide to get the ball and also displays a hook shot.  High-points rebounds in traffic.
