One of the bigger pieces for the Gators moving forward is 2022 wing forward Cade Stinnett. Cade worked his way up to a starting spot as a freshman and ended his freshman campaign as a pivotal player and glue guy for Greenwood. Stinnett told me, “High school season was great. I started varsity as a freshman and averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds per game.” He parlayed that success into a spot on Manimal Elite 15u and has been a steady player on probably the best 15u team in Kentucky.
One thing Cade does already that helps to set him apart from peers in his age group is get in the gym and grind. His blue collar mentality is one thing that separates him from a typical 15 year old, “I’m a very hard worker that does whatever the team needs to win. My strengths are getting to the rim and finishing and being able to guard players at a high level. I need to continue to improve my 3 point shooting.” Cade told me he’s been having a great AAU season thus far, “it’s great playing on a team with the best talent in KY.” While he’s not getting any interest from colleges yet, Cade is getting accolades and praise as a top 15-20 player in the very deep 2022 class in Kentucky.
The only thing Cade can control on the court is his own effort and he has set himself some lofty goals for his Sophomore campaign. He told me that his individual goals for next season are “to gain a very consistent 3 point shot to make me a complete player. I also hope to have a huge sophomore season at greenwood as I become “the guy” now entering my second year of starting.” With Noah Stansbury and Ben Carroll added to Cade, Greenwood has a nice nucleus coming back this season and needs to be considered a real threat to finally get out of the district tournament and make a run at the 4th region title.
