Here are some of the rising junior standouts:
Isa Silva PG 6’2 170 Jesuit HS (Compton Magic Premier 17)
-Feel for the game is really high. Makes left/right hand passes look easy. Great passer and deep 3pt shooter. Good ball fakes, changes speeds well and IQ is next level. Splits defenders effortlessly. Good on the ball defensively with quickness. Has the runner/floater game.
Brenton Knapper PG 5’11 165 Colony HS (Cali Stars 16 Elite)
-Pure PG with a lot to like. Elite acceleration and above the rim athlete. Always trying to make others better and gets passed his man then finds the open man. Ball hawk defender and plays with energy on that end of the court. Streaky deep shooter but does so many things to win a game. Looks like one of the better soph CA PGs.
Malik Thomas SG 6’3 190 Damien HS (Compton Magic Premier 17)
-Scorer with strong hands and good on-ball defender. Can pull-up from mid to the 3pt line. Can develop into a high level college scorer. He plays physical and is a tough competitor.
Chris Howell PG 6’6 195 Torrey Pines (Coastal Elite Slayers 16)
-Bigger passing guard who slings it to teammates effortless. Keeps eyes up at all times. High motor to defend and uses height and length to rebound and block shots. Improving perimeter shooter but still needs to make strides. Usually scores it inside the paint. Can post up defenders. Plays a little like Shaun Livingston’s game.
AJ Burgin Jr PG 6’2 180 San Diego HS (Gamepoint 16 Elite)
-Good on-ball defender and catch and shoot 3pt shooter. Great length with a 6’7 wingspan. Changes speeds smartly and understands how to run a team. Smart player and outstanding passer. Has improved every year I have seen him. He should breakout this year in HS.
Solomon Little PG 6’1 165 Balboa Prep (Coastal Elite Slayers 16)
-Defensive lead guard. Super active and plays with a high motor. One of the better on-ball defenders. Can make progress with his shooting but is good getting downhill.
