Deshon Carter 6’3 PG 2020 Denver South (Colorado Premier)
Carter is slender but long and shifty. He was able to get to wherever he needed to on the court. Further, he finished well around the rim. He has a good explosion that enables him to go from 0 to 100 quickly and leave the defender in the dust.
Isaiah Tshimanga 6’3 SF 2020 Pomona (Colorado Premier)
Tshimanga does a lot of little things that aid his team in being successful. His length and strength enable him to play multiple positions. Further, he is able to impact a game in a multitude of ways due to his versatile build and skill set. Also worth noting, he moves his feet well defensively.
Glory Nwotite 6’1 PG 2020 Shadow Ridge (Blue Chip Nation)
Nwotite is another smaller guard who had a lot of success in the paint this weekend. He is fast and has good change of direction. The Shadow Ridge guard was a pleasant surprise due to his ability to easily get by the guy in front of him and compete in the paint with the big fellas.
Ben Seale 6’1 PG/SG 2020 Cactus (B.E.A.S.T)
Seale might be one of the most talented, yet hidden gems. He can score the basketball from all three levels and is one of the most deceptive athletes that I have seen. He is not afraid to raise up in the paint and try to catch a body. Moreover, he is a skilled shooter from deep with a good first step. This forces the defense to respect him from that level and opens up driving opportunities.
Michael Batchelor 6’1 PG/SG 2020 Millennium (Powerhouse)
Batchelor is not necessarily under the radar as he plays for one of the top teams in the state. However, he rarely gets the opportunity to play the point for that group due to the other skilled guards. With that said, he was able to play the point this weekend and had a lot of success. He is another deceptive athlete who can touch paint at will. Further, he showed a high basketball IQ as he pulled the help side defense with his drives and found the open teammate.
Jalin Johnson 6’6 SG/SF 2020 Bella Vista (Legion of Hoops)
Johnson was as an elite of an athlete as there was at the event. The 6’6 SG/SF is lengthy and bouncy. Further, his shooting form is looking more consistent and smooth. He has not competed with The Legion of Hoops White 17U long. However, he is showing an ability to make an impact immediately. Johnson is reclassifying after completing his last year at Bella Vista.
Jalen Calvert 6’5 PF/C 2019 McClintock (Legion of Hoops)
Calvert has received some publicity due to his ability to protect the rim. Despite being undersized for his position, Calvert makes up for it with rare timing and athleticism. In fact, he continued the shot blocking trend this weekend as he continued to show his dominance in the paint.
Kareem Parks 6’0 PG 2020 Campo Verde (Legion of Hoops)
Parks was one of my favorite 17U prospects to watch this past weekend. He shot the basketball well. However, what really stood out was his ability to get to his spots. He makes good decisions with the basketball, does not over dribble, and is a solid defender as well. He ran the show for The Legion of Hoops 17U White at a high level.
