Quentin Bolton – 2021 – F – Phenom University NY2LA
We were admittedly sleeping on Bolton prior to the Spiece Run N’ Slam. Well, we’re awake now. A 6-foot-5 combo forward who can handle and shoot the basketball, Bolton is a mismatch problem given his strong frame and versatility. What we like best about Bolton is his ability to beat you with power or finesse. As of now, we see Bolton inside the top 30 of the class of 2021 rankings, maybe just a bit outside depending on who moves up.
Ryan Claflin – 2020 – F – Wisconsin Crusaders
Ryan ClaflinClaflin caught our eye during the spring live period. The junior forward can do a little bit of everything on the floor. There’s maybe not one part of his game that really stands out, but the Southern Door product contributes in a variety of ways. At 6-foot-5 with some plus-length, Claflin can play both forward spots effectively.
James Jacobs – 2022 – SG – Wisconsin Swing
If the Spiece Run N’ Slam was any indication, Stevens Point may have another stud coming their way. A smooth shot creator with good size (6-2), Jacobs has a chance to develop into a deadly shotmaker. He’s got the tools off the bounce to create space and score from all three levels.
Ben Olson – 2020 – PF – La Crosse Elevate
Olson has the potential to be a really nice role player at the next level. He’s not a kid that puts up big scoring numbers, but the 6-foot-6 power forward can make game-changing plays. He runs the floor really well in transition and can play above the rim. Olson also has the body and work ethic to control the glass.
Marshawn Robinson – 2022 – SG – ABC Young Lions
We should have Robinson in our initial class of 2022 rankings, but had only seen him in some fall league stuff. He’ll be somewhere in the top 15 to start, but definitely has Division 1 potential. An electric athlete who can absolutely blow by defenders in the half court or get up and down in transition, Robinson is steadily improving his jumper, which is the key to which level he ends up at in college.
Donovan Sparks – 2022 – G – Kevon Looney Elite
Yes, Nicolet is going to get more help next season. Sparks wasn’t a varsity player last season, but is someone definitely capable of getting nice minutes next season. The 6-foot-2 combo guard should fit right in with the Knights’ uptempo system as a pass-first guard with terrific vision int he open floor.
Max Weisbrod – 2022 – G – Wisconsin Swing
Athletically, you wouldn’t look at Weisbrod and say he’s one of the top players in the state. In fact, there were times when he was overwhelmed at the varsity level, but seeing him in 15U action during the Spiece Run N’ Slam, we came away with a different perspective. Weisbrod is a gamer that doesn’t shy away from the big moments and wants the ball in his hands. The DeForest product has the ability to hit tough shots and is a quality playmaker for his teammates as well.
Max WeisbrodLogan White – 2021 – F – Wisconsin Playmakers
White is still just scratching the surface of his potential and continues to play with more confidence. A plus-length 6-foot-4 forward, White has some budding versatility, specifically as a dribble penetrator/slasher, pulling bigs away from the rim and taking them off the dribble. White averaged about 10 points per game last season at Wausau West, who should be one of the most improved teams in the state next season with their top four scorers all returning.
Caleb Williams – 2020 – PG – Wisconsin Blizzard
A sleeper we came across at the Battle at the Lakes, Williams has intriguing size and scoring ability for the point guard spot. Williams can fly under the radar while playing alongside Logan Jedwabny and Max Klesmit, but is standing on his own as a prospect. A quality stop-and-pop shooter who can connect on off-balance looks, Williams has been showing some breakout flashes this spring.
Owen Ziegler – 2020 – SG – Wisconsin Hoops Select
Ziegler played on a very senior-laden Mt. Horeb squad last season, but definitely carved out a nice role. Next season, it’s his show. At the Rock Spring Classic, Zieger showed he can be a go-to scorer. A sharpshooter with a very quick trigger, Ziegler has the green light to shoot pretty much every time down.
