Recruiting Reset As We Hit the Live Period (FREE)
The 2020 Class is about to enter their next to last Certified period of AAU. Kentucky kids are spread out all over the country this weekend. Here’s a look at rising Seniors with scholarship offers and some predictions for the AAU season ahead.
Juniors with D1 Offers:
- North Oldham’s Justin Powell – Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Xavier have all offered Powell. He is considered a Top 100 recruit nationally and is playing AAU with Indy Heat of the EYBL.
- McCracken County’s Jackson Sivills – The 6’6 wing has offers from St. Louis, Murray State, Kent State, UT Martin, Samford, Rice, Liberty and Belmont. Sivills is playing again with Hoop Dreams.
- Collins’ Dayvion McKnight – The 6’1 point guard holds offers from Winthrop, Cleveland State, Kent State and Western Kentucky. McKnight also holds an offer from D2 Kentucky State and NAIA Georgetown College. He is playing with M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs again.
- Madisonville-North Hopkins Kenny White – The 6’7 wing holds 3 D1 offers from Evansville, Kent State and Tennessee-Martin. He is running with Manimal Elite.
- Collins’ Marcellus Vail – The 6’3 shooting guard has an offer from Kent State and a D2 offer from Kentucky State and an offer from NAIA Georgetown College. He is back with M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs for AAU.
- Madisonville-North Hopkins’ Ksuan Casey – The center holds an offer from Evansville. He has played for Hoop Dreams and Manimal Elite this year and is rumored to play this weekend with Vision Elite.
Juniors with D2 Offers:
- South Oldham’s Luke Morrison has an offer from Kentucky Wesleyan. He is running with M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs this AAU season.
- Male’s Tyren Moore holds an offer from Tusculum University. He’s also got an offer from Columbia State Junior College. Tyren plays with Manimal Elite.
Juniors with NAIA Offers:
- Bardstown’s JJ Traynor – The athletic forward has held an offer from Georgetown College for over a year now.
- Garrard County’s Brayden Sebastian – The 6’4 shooter was offered by Campbellsville this season after one of his huge scoring games.
- Henry Clay guard Marques Warrick has been offered by Georgetown College. He’s playing with Manimal Elite this AAU season.
Juniors with Junior College Offers:
- Male’s Howard Fleming holds an offer from Columbia State Junior College in Tennessee. Howard plays for Hoop Dreams.
Predictions:
- I think as many as 6 or 7 Juniors who don’t have D1 offers right now could hold at least one by the end of the summer. While there isn’t great size in the class, there are several skilled players who can play the 1-3 spots that could see their stock take off in their 17u year.
- This class has great depth. There are several kids who could be impact players at the D2 and NAIA levels when they get to college.
- Kentucky players will combine for a lot of offers this summer. The 2020 class has been maligned as being weak for several years but there is some really quality depth in the class as a whole. There aren’t many high major players in the class but there are a lot of really good D2 and NAIA prospects.
- There will be at least 2-3 Sophomores who will end up with scholarship offers coming out of the April AAU season. Not yet sure which ones will get the first offers but I do expect there to be multiple kids to get those offers.
- With the current chaos around transfers and unsigned Seniors (2019s), it is highly unlikely that any 2022 Kentucky teams will even have a coach at a game this weekend. It’s unfortunate but that’s how it is right now. 2022 is a talented class in Kentucky and their time will come.
