Prospect Spotlight: Jesse Wall
Eureka, Utah, is home to Tintic High School. Unless you are a basketball junkie, a number of these small schools are largely unknown. However, there are a number of schools that have strong histories when it comes to basketball.
Although Tintic does not have as strong of a history as some of the other schools in these ranks, they have a young man hoping to add his name to their history: Jesse Wall. Wall, a 6’0 SG/SF in the class of 2018, is hoping to continue his strong play as a means of earning a scholarship and bringing Tintic a state championship.
Jesse Wall High School
Wall does a little bit of everything for Tintic. While averaging a little over 14 points per game, he also averaged almost 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Much of Tintic’s success is due to the versatility and stat filling of Wall.
Despite being 6’0, Wall plays a little bit of everywhere for Tintic. He noted that he has worked primarily on his “ball handling, shooting and court vision skills”. As he transitions to the next level, he is best suited to be a PG/SG. However, at Tintic, he does whatever is needed of him to aid the team in having success. This has resulted in him playing anywhere from SF to C.
As far as this upcoming season is concerned, Wall is confident in his group. In fact, his two primary goals are to win the region championship and to win the state championship. In order for them to accomplish these goals, Wall will have to have a huge season and the group will need the assistance of a number of role players.
As a means of aiding with those two goals, Wall hopes to reach his “1,000 career high school points”. Although Tintic is poised to have a lot of success this upcoming season, they will have a tall task in upending some of the other favored schools to win the title.
In addition to scoring, Wall hopes to be a leader for his program. Part of his leadership is to get the best out of his teammates as he noted that, “Success as an individual in basketball is rare, if your team is successful then you are successful.” Wall will be one of the premier players in 1A and will be a huge part of whatever success Tintic has in this upcoming season.
Jesse Wall College Interest
As far as colleges are concerned, Wall noted that he does not have any offers at this time. With that said, he mentioned that “Westimster” has expressed interest in him at this time.
Wall has a tough journey ahead of him as geographic location can make it difficult for colleges to see him. Further, he will need to demonstrate that he is capable of playing more of a 1/2 in order to receive an opportunity at the next level.
With that said, Wall is skilled an brings a lot of energy to his team. When asked what he feels like he can bring to a college program, he noted, “I could bring energy to any college program. I am very energetic and I bring other players on the court to be active on defense and offense”. Moreover, he has demonstrated something quite important during his time at Tintic: He knows how to win.
A lot of schools struggle with finding players who care more about winning than numbers. In his time at Tintic, he has shown that he can contribute to his team’s overall success. Further, he finishes extremely well around the rim and has demonstrated that he is willing to play whatever role is asked of him.
Wall is primarily looking for a school that will afford him the opportunity to play basketball at the next level. Further, he would like the opportunity to get a major that would enable him to be a “Registered Nurse”.
