Holmes was on many people’s radars long before this season. However, this season, Holmes played a key role in Millennium making their way to the 5A state championship game despite having a lot of youth.
His versatility makes him one of the most dangerous players in the state. He is capable of impacting the game in an array of ways and did that throughout this past season.
On the defensive end of the floor, he is more than capable of protecting the rim, which Millennium used as they pressured full court and uses different types of zone defenses to funnel opponents to him.
Further, he is more than capable of guarding along the perimeter. While he is still needing to put on more muscle mass and gain more lateral quickness, he is still effective due to his commitment to competing and length.
Offensively, he demonstrated that he is capable of scoring along the perimeter as well as in the paint. While he is skilled already, what makes him extremely special is that he is far from a polished product. Holmes does a lot of his damage due to his motor. He is constantly rim running and competing on the glass.
In turn, he was arguably the most impactful player throughout the 5A state tournament.
According to Holmes, he currently has offers from GCU, ASU, Ole Miss, New Mexico, Texas Tech, and Minnesota. As far as interest is concerned, he mentioned that he has heard from Arizona, Utah, Clemson, Texas, as well as others.
He is “looking for a school that would hit [him] best.” Further, he would like to go to a place where he can have the “most success” and “contribute to the team being successful.”
Holmes mentioned that his goal is to “bring a school everything they would want from [him].” If his high school success is any indication, he is well on his way to doing that.
Holmes’ stock is only going to continue to go up with every rep as he is constantly improving and has potential that is through the roof.
