<p>The AAU season hums along, and the Fade Away Classic in Gilbert had plenty of solid games and players. Here are some of the defenders that stood out in the tournament:</p>
<p><strong>Neo Powell - Team Phoenix - Tri City Christian</strong></p>
<p>Powell was very pesky to opposing handlers, using his quick feet and swift hands to manufacture steals and get opposing defenses out of their rhythm. Something people often underestimate is defending inbound passes, and he blanketed other guards, forcing people not as comfortable on the ball to grab it.</p>
<p><strong>Carl Wilson - Tru Heat - Chandler</strong></p>
<p>Wilson played tough as he has always done, using great strength to take up space against opposing guards and not allow nearly any penetration. Even when at a height disadvantage, he could use that strength to not budge from his spot near the basket and defend near the post.</p>
<p><strong>Julian Jackson - AZ Breakdown - Mesa</strong></p>
<p>Jackson used his athleticism to bother opposing wings all tournament. Mesa High plays a tough defensive scheme, and it's clear he's continuing those efforts in the AAU season.</p>
<p><strong>Daevin Celaya - Team Phoenix - Mountain Pointe</strong></p>
<p>He played really clutch defense, coming up with steals and big defensive plays when his team needed them most. His quickness was important for Team Phoenix, as it allowed others to take more chances knowing he and Powell could control the backcourt.</p>
