Team Arizona Platinum 71 Prime Basketball 66
Here were some of the standouts of this game:
Timmy Johnson SF 6’3” 2019 Westwood (Prime Basketball)
-Johnson was one the star players of the night. He scored 21 points with a high level of difficulty. He has a lot to like with his game. The lefty can hit the deep 3 but he can also slither into the lane with a nice first step and athleticism to score it with either hand. He has some impressive moves to separate from his defender. He can cross his opponent over or step back, has one-dribble pull-ups and a nasty side step to score it from mid-range. He will need to thicken up but the Westwood star is a player that many people have overlooked.
Juhlawnei Stone PF 6’5” 2020 Dobson (Prime Basketball)
-Stone is a powerful forward who is extremely athletic. The lefty is a big time rebounder and can block shots. He moves like a wing and has great strength. He has a nice hook shot and gets points off of the glass often. He usually rises over his opponents and finishes. He will need to improve his FT shooting but he plays hard and is competitive.
Anthony Irvin SG 6’4″ 2020 Corona del Sol (Prime Basketball)
-Irvin is the top shooter of the team. He has a super quick release and deep range. He gets hot quickly and can go through stretches he can carry a team. He can get into the lane with nice quickness and a decent handle. He can get stronger and keep improving his ball handling.
Dyson Lighthall C 6’6” 2020 American Leadership Academy-Queen Creek (Team Arizona Platinum)
-Lighthall was the co-MVP of the game. He can score it from inside and out. He can step out to the 3pt line and shoot it from mid-range. He also has one of the more polished hook shots that seems to be almost automatic. He rebounds well in his area and can block an occasional shot.
Jordan Wollangk PG 5’10” 2020 Mesquite (Team Arizona Platinum)
-Wollangk was the other co-MVP of the game. He controlled the entire game and is the teams most important player. He sets the table for his teammates and makes the game easier. He has pin-point passing and is very tough. The lefty likes to get downhill with his speed and quickness. He can hit the deep ball plus once he gets into the lane he can spin off of his defender and score it. His court vision, game IQ, toughness and craftiness allow him to be successful.
Quest Williams SG 6’0″ 2020 Poston Butte (Team Arizona Platinum)
-Williams is kind of a newcomer for me. This was my first viewing of him in over two years. He has a strong body/frame and can get downhill and score it through contact. He can shoot it from beyond the arc and plays hard on the ball defensively. He plays with a big motor, he has good strength and can affect the game on both sides of the court.
