2020 Cypress Springs G Davon Wright talks Prep Hoops Circuit, AAU season and more
There is a confidence about Davon Wright that stands out more often than not.
The 2020 6’5″, 188-pound Cypress Springs guard was really sound this past weekend at the Prep Hoops Circuit #GrindSZNKickoff in Oklahoma City. For Texas TakeOver-Ned 17U, Wright was stretching the floor with his reliable jumper and running in transition often, making things happen near the rim.
Wright says his summer has been really good so far with Texas TakeOver.
“They are working with me to become a standout player and putting me in situations to become that top player,” Wright told Prep Hoops.
No offers or interest have come yet for Wright, but I expect that to change as his team plays in the Prep Hoops Circuit. He’s a consistent threat to score every time he touches the ball and he’s a steady athlete.
“I love the Prep Hoops Circuit. You can tell they are based on the player’s success and not receiving funds,” he said.
As for his junior season, Wright called it prestigious.
“I made 2nd team all-district coming off the bench. As a team, we had a great season winning district and once being ranked top 25 in the state of Texas,” he said.
Wright alluded to his ability to shoot, dribble, pass and rebound well as his biggest strengths.
Although the recruitment hasn’t come yet, it should pick up soon now that he’s a feature piece on this talented Texas TakeOver group and going to be a major factor for Cypress Springs as a senior. Wright’s confidence is increasing and he plays with endless focus, good body language and grit. A Division II program would love this kid and a low Division-I program should be taking a long look as well.
