The sophomore guard, who has been a leader and go-to-guy for Rock Creek Christian this year, is a big reason why his team will play in tomorrow’s CBAA Championship. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, Fauntleroy reflected on his role, his overall game, and explained what he thinks he can bring to a college program.
PH: On a scale of 1-10, how would you grade your team’s win?
GF: “8. We did a lot. We could’ve done better on defensive rotations, but we played unselfish and share the ball.”
PH: What’s your role for this team?
GF: “A leader. I lead the guys. I try to lead us to a win every night. Make sure everyone is doing what they’re supposed to do, make plays for my teammates, and try to pull out wins.”
PH: How were you able to rebound from a slow start?
GF: “I have to give credit to my teammates. They picked me up and kept us in the game. After I got into a rhythm I felt more comfortable out there.”
PH: What are the most underrated aspects of your game right now?
GF: “I’d say my jump shot and my defense.”
PH: What would you say you’re working on?
GF: “Everything. My handle, jump shot, mid range, defense. Everything.”
PH: Rumor has it you’ll be playing with Takeover 16’s. What do you think you’ll be expected to bring to that team?
GF: “Energy and strength. I’m a strong guard who plays defense and score.”
PH: What are your goals?
GF: “To get a double-double every game with assists and points.”
PH: How have you done with that so far?
GF: “I think I’ve reached double figure assists and points in most games.”
PH: How are your grades?
GF: “All A’s and B’s.”
PH: What do you think you can bring to a college program?
GF: “Energy. Leadership, and playing hard on both sides of the floor.”
