On Friday night he finished with 10 points shooting 60% from the field. On Saturday in a win against St. Frances he tallied 8 points finished 75% from the field. He talked about his play with us.
“Well I don’t like when I had two turnovers today, those were really silly as I am usually a smart player. I have the ability to hit down a lot of shots, can make open shots and when my team wants me to play with the ball in my hands as a point guard, I can do that too.”
St. Maria Goretti had one of their better season in the history of the program and Golek was proud of that accomplishment.
“I say it was a really good season for us. We were one of the best teams in the BCL and one of the best teams in Goretti history. Our coaches did a really good job coaching us. We had to adjust to some things during the season and those adjustments the staff made really helped us.”
What helped Goretti have so much success this season was because of the role Golek played and he talked about his role on this years team.
“I am the guy who is hitting threes on the court and have a very high basketball iq. I can swing the ball when it is time to share the ball. I will never rush it and can slow down the game when my team needs the game to slow down and will never take a bad shot.”
When asked what he can bring to a college program, he said, “I can come into a program and do whatever the coach needs me to do. I am from Europe and over there I learned the basic rules of basketball so I have a very high IQ. I can adjust my style of play to basically any team. I will always understand what a coach wants me to do.”
