The games will begin at 2pm local time starting with the first girls semifinal game with three other games to follow. One of those games will include a few AAU teammates meeting for the first time since being together last summer. Those players include 2020 W Brandon Boston Jr. of Norcross High School and the McEachern High School starting five.
McEachern and Norcross are set to meet for the second year in a row and the Nike EYBL Athletes of Tomorrow (GA) backcourt of 2020 PG Sharife Cooper of McEachern and 2020 W Brandon Boston Jr. will face off and right before AAU season begins in a couple weeks. Cooper and Boston Jr. ran the Running Rebels backcourt all last spring, summer on the Nike EYBL circuit. AOT finished the regular season in the EYBL with a 13-3 record and making an appearance at Peach Jam where they finished 3-2 overall.
Sharife Cooper was named Offensive Player of the Year at last summer’s Nike Peach Jam and was also named the top underclassmen of the year during the regular season. Both Cooper and Boston Jr. will be looking to lead their high school squads now to the state title game, which will be next Saturday night in Macon, Georgia. Last year, Brandon Boston Jr. got the last word as Norcross demolished McEachern in last year’s elite 8 round.
This year, McEachern will be coming in with an overall and amazing 30-0 record and will be looking to continue their path to the 2019 GEICO Nationals in New York. Their last lost was to Norcross High School last year. Let that sink in. Auburn commit 2019 F Isaac Okoro, Northwestern commit 2019 F Jared Jones, 2019 PG Quinton McElroy, and 2019 G Alyn Breed of McEachern were also part of that same Athletes of Tomorrow (GA) squad last summer, so it is somewhat a reunion. This matchup will and should have a packed house and the game is expected to start at 4pm local time. The winner between McEachern and Norcross will not only have bragging rights, but will advance to next week’s state title matchup.
