Patrick Baldwin Jr., Sussex Hamilton: Baldwin is averaging 16.3 ppg when being double or triple-teamed by the opposing team — which is every game this season. Baldwin is hit with some derivation of a trap defense, and every time it opens up lanes and gaps for his teammates. Him just being on the court throws a wrench in the other team’s game plan, as he’s been the driving force of Hamilton’s 18-3 record.
Gage Malensek, Brookfield Central: Malensek musters up 19.5 ppg despite playing alongside some of Wisconsin’s best and brightest players. He’s fueled Brookfield Central through the regular season by attacking the rim and creating easy offense. Look for him to carry the scoring load through March.
Michael Foster Jr., Milwaukee Washington: Foster is putting up 20.4 ppg, leading Milwaukee Washington to the top of division two basketball. He is one of the unique athletes that’s just a bigger breed, and he uses this size advantage to dominate in the paint. This March, Washington will welcome Texas product, Tre White to the roster, which gives Foster more firepower to possibly threaten Nicolet in the tournament.
Johnny Davis, La Crosse Central: Basketball is a family business for Davis, who plays alongside his brother, Jordan for La Crosse Central. Johnny Davis is more skilled offensively than his brother, averaging 23.4 points per game, but his game is elevated when playing with another talent like Jordan Davis.
Marcus Domask, Waupun: Domask is putting up 20.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game while shooting at a 41.1 percent clip from beyond the arc. His offensive skillset touches all aspects of the game which is why he’s Prep Hoops’ top senior prospect and a finalist for the POTY.
Deontay Long, Milwaukee Washington: Long has been Michael Foster’s little brother, but not really. While Foster garners most of the attention as a five-star recruit, Long has quietly averaged 20.5 ppg and campaigned for the POTY. His biggest asset offensively is his frame. The guard stands at 6’5, 210 pounds, which gives him the ability to defend all positions and play a little bully ball on the offensive end.
Jalen Johnson, Nicolet: As the face of Wisconsin basketball and one of the most electrifying and explosive athletes in the country, Johnson is no doubt a top contender for the award. He’s averaging 20.5ppg this season, the most on Nicolet.
Jamari Sibley, Nicolet: If Johnson throws the lobs, Sibley will finish them with dunks. He’s averaging 20.2ppg, dominating the painted area on offense and defense.
A.J Vukovich, East Troy: Vukovich is Wisconsin’s mini-Kyler Murray. He’s committed to Louisville for baseball while putting up 20.7ppg and dominating division two basketball for East Troy. Maybe he can follow in Murray’s footsteps and claim the most coveted prize in high school sports.
