Sectional Final time for the Central District this weekend, and there will be some good ones in store. Take a look at the top games I have selected!
Division One:
Northland (15-6) @ Olentangy (13-9): Northland comes in looking to stay alive, after finishing the regular season with a loss to South in the City League ship. Northland will look to get out and run behind lead guard N’Keeley Elmore, whom should have things his way Friday night.
On the other end of things, Olentangy will have a good guard to anchor things themselves. ODU commit Sean Marks can torch the Vikings quickly if he catches fire, which will be something to watch for. This one should be a close one, after each team has had a bit of time off.
Groveport (14-9) @ Thomas Worthington (15-7): Groveport comes into this one fresh off a first round win over St. Charles. The Cruisers will need solid production from Javon Miller and Nakhi Taylor to pull off this Sectional win.
Thomas Worthington will get their first taste of the postseason after not having an opening round game. The Cardinals will heavily rely on Jalen Sullinger and Ben Wight to be big time in any postseason win they pick up this time of year.
Delaware Hayes (17-6) @ Olentangy Orange (15-7): The Pacers squeaked by Westerville Central behind a big game from Senior Terin Kinsway, they will need those heroics again, playing a tough Pioneers team.
Olentangy Orange comes in ready to battle, behind a well balanced team. Upsetting Olentangy Liberty in the regular season, shows what the Pioneers are capable of at top strength. It will be interesting to see the matchup between Orange guard Bryson Lane and Pacer, Nate Griggs.
Also:
Fredericktown(14-9) @ Johnstown (17-4): The matchup of the Freddies and the Johnnies should be a good one. It’ll be Johnstown’s first postseason game, after not playing in the opening round.
Fredericktown will come in off a good win over Liberty Union, 80-67. Nick and Lincoln Cunningham combined for 57 points in that game, big time duo. They will need much of the same to take down a solid Johnstown squad.
