Continue ReadingChristian Heritage defeated Centennial 66-62 Thursday night at CHA in the first round of Regional play. The squads went back-and-forth all night before CHA pulled through in the final four minutes of the game. With plenty of talent to evaluate, these were the seven biggest difference-makers:
Zach Hale 2019 CHA guard
Zach Hale is a special kind of all-around player that doesn’t come up every day. On Thursday night, Hale was scoring, dishing, rebounding, and defending for the Crusaders. He led Christian Heritage with 29 points. He as playing rim protector on one end while finishing buckets high at the rim on the other end. Once he had concentrated the defense, he re-spread the floor by knocking down big shots from outside. He was one of the most complete players won Thursday night we have seen recently.
Moun’Tae Edmundson Jr. 2019 Centennial point guard
Moun’Tae Edmundson Jr had an outstanding night for Centennial High. The senior finished with 26 points in the loss. He did so with elite speed, possessing a sort of next gear above the rest of the floor. He finished in traffic amidst taller defenders and when he couldn’t, he drew the foul or went right back at the defense on the next possession. His acceleration, relentlessness, and 32-minute-a-night mentality make him a potent and dominating player. He’s the epitome of heart over height.
Christopher Johnson 2019 CHA wing
Christopher Johnson gave a nice scoring addition as well as defensive presence to Christian Heritage on Thursday night. He’s a hustle guy, true and simple and gave the Crusaders the benefit in loose balls, batted shots, etc.
Ali Edwards 2021 Centennial forward
was playing clean-up for Centennial all game, and it benefited both his team’s production, but his personal stat line. He nearly finished with a double-double, coming up just short with 9 points. Still, he had a great impact on what the Bison were able to do on Thursday.
Luke Winslow 2021 CHS wing
Luke Winslow did a really good job of stretching out the defense. A great spot-up shooter, Winslow knocked down three 3-pointers for the night on the wing spot and set a precedent early that he wasn’t the guy to leave unattended.
Salae Woodley 2019 Centennial point guard
Salae Woodley runs the back-court well with fellow senior point guard Moun’Tae Edmundson, Jr. and can pick up where he needs to. He hit three 3-balls on Thursday night; helping to stretch the floor and keep defenders honest.
Liam Canty 2020 CHA forward
Liam Canty finished the night with 12 points for Christian Heritage in part by playing physical and gritty in the rebounding game. He hustled all night for every opportunity he could salvage to give his team an edge. In a game that had countless lead changes, either team was looking for that opportunity to pull ahead. It’s no secret that Canty was part of the reason the Crusaders came out with the win.
