Prospect Spotlight: Goanar Biliew (2020)
When the latest 2020 prospect rankings were released last month, Denison Schleswig’s 6-foot-8 center Goanar Biliew made a very high debut.
The junior checked in at No. 40 in his class and with his size and ability could be a guy who continues to rise the charts in the coming 12 months.
With the Monarchs this season, Biliew is averaging 17.2 points on 67 percent shooting, 3.1 blocks and 9.6 rebounds per game. He’s a big reason why they’re off to a 13-4 start to the season.
“Our team has been great this year, and I believe we have a chance at a conference championship. Our coach does his job well and we do ours on the court,” said Biliew.
“Our point guard is really good and we’re good at other positions, too. We all help each other get to where we need to be, and we just sync.”
Two months from now, Biliew will start a 17U offseason, one where he could become a breakout recruit in the state. He says there’s three programs that he’s considering playing for; Beyond Ball, Iowa Barnstormers and Martin Bros. But he says he doesn’t know for sure which he’ll play with yet.
Regardless, he’s hoping to not only continue and hone his overall skill-set, but also get some college interest and offers.
“I want to work on my post moves and also my ball-handling and my shot, mid-range and 3,” said Biliew.
“I want to work really hard and get looked at by colleges, probably lower D1 schools, or D2 schools. And I just want to work on my craft and better myself.”
