Teams:
No. 1 Edmond Memorial (24-1)
Posting the best record in 6A, the one-loss Edmond Memorial Bulldogs will have the opportunity to punch their ticket to the dance this weekend. The ‘Dogs will look to seniors Drew Tennial and Jacob Thionnet to produce on both ends of the floor, while sophomore point guard Sean Pedulla will be the primary facilitator.
No. 3 Edmond Santa Fe (19-6)
Edmond Santa Fe is far from a shove-around team. Three of the Wolves’ losses came to crosstown rival, No. 1 Memorial, but did best the Bulldogs on one occasion in the Edmond Open. Junior Donovan Vickers and senior Jaylen O’Conner will run the offense while senior Ben Smith will look to creat scoring.
No. 6 Norman North (18-6)
Senior Shemar Smith will be the go-to guy for the Timberwolves this weekend in their quest to reach the final eight. Fellow seniors Josh Robinson and Josh Crutchfield will be primary shooting options, while sophomore Jaylon White can expect to be a big part of the T-Wolves’ offensive production, as well.
No. 7 Putnam City West (18-7)
Putnam City West held the top spot in the early season and that fire has not escaped the Patriots. Junior Rondel Walker can break off for a triple-double at any time, and don’t be surprised if you see Walker drop a 30-ball this weekend to help West reach the State Tournament. Both Shelby Sampleton and MJ Warrior can get buckets for the Patriots, as well, and have been phenomenal for PC West this year.
No. 8 Midwest City (19-6)
Midwest City, behind the leadership of senior JD Ray, can score the basketball with the best of ’em. Ray is joined in the back-court by junior Christian Cook, an explosive wing, and freshman Kevin Overton, one of the brightest newcomers in the state and a lethal shooter. Having dealt with various injuries this season, the Bombers are one of the most battle-tested teams in the west.
No. 12 Deer Creek (15-10)
Seniors Miles Slater and Zach Tretheway are two of the most impressive scoring guards in the area. As this team has heated up in the second half of the season, Jalyn Todd, Baron Hopgood, and Turner Suchy have all stepped up in big way for the Antlers. Keep this team on upset alert.
No. 17 Putnam City (14-11)
Perhaps the most underrated team in the west, the PC Pirates have already proved to be the spoiler when they defeated Edmond Santa Fe last weekend in the Regional Tournament. Point guard KD Jolly and Tre Carolina are quick, explosive, and can score the basketball.
No. 20 Norman (12-13)
Norman has been an impressive team in the latter half of the season. Despite dropping some close games, the Tigers have looked good. Junior swingman Ben Emmert is a touted scorer, while Jonah Paden and Jaden Bray can both be additions on both ends of the floor for the Tigers. Remember, this team posted one of the best team defensive efforts of the season last weekend against No. 1 Edmond Memorial.
