Wisconsin Player Of The Week Nominations
Who deserves to be the Wisconsin high school basketball player of the week?
Patrick Baldwin Jr.
In the game of the week, Patrick Baldwin Jr. came up big. The sophomore dropped 23 points in Sussex Hamilton’s big win over Brookfield Central. If Baldwin keeps playing this well, he will have a very lucrative basketball career.
Levi Nienhaus-Borchert
In a critical FVA matchup, Levi Nienhaus-Borchert scored 29 points and led Kimberly to a win over Neenah. Despite being a little undersized for a low-block player, Borchert’s savvy play around the hoop has allowed him to blossom into one of the best big men in the state of Wisconsin.
David Joplin
In two games this week, David Joplin scored a combined 43 points. In his first game of the week, Joplin dropped 30 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in a loss. On Saturday, Joplin had a less impressive performance, but was still effective. The sophomore scored 13 points and grabbed three boards in Brookfiled Central’s loss to East Ridge. There is a lot of time before Joplin goes to play college basketball, but it would not surprise me at all if he starts to get some serious looks from more big-time schools.
Max Klesmit
Despite falling to Kimberly on Friday, Max Klesmit still scored 34 points and nearly propelled his team to victory. The junior guard struggled in the first half, scoring just four points, but exploded for 30 in the second half. Unfortunately for Neenah, Klesmit’s second period heroics were not enough, as the Papermakers were able to hold on and win the game.
Riley Le Tourneau
Riley Le Tourneau led his team to two victories this week. On Friday, Le Tourneau scored 22 points in a win. The day after that, Le Tourneau dropped 34 points in Brookfield East’s 91-59 win over Apple Valley. Le Tourneau may not be the most athletic player, but he knows how to put the ball in the hoop.
