Here is a preview of the teams participating:
Heritage Hall
In a tournament that has quite a few Division prospects, Heritage Hall may have the most talented player in the field and he is only a sophomore in Trey Alexander.
Alexander is a 6’3 guard who can get to the rim whenever he feels like it and his jumper is consistently improving which makes him even more dangerous.
However, Alexander isn’t the only talent player for the Chargers. as they have William McDonald and Michael McLaughlin who are talented wings who can shoot the ball but also make plays off the bounce.
Heritage Hall comes in as a favorite to get to the PCI finals due to their championship experience and the sheer talent of Trey Alexander.
Lawton Ike
Ike is always known as a tough gritty program that will always play hard and get after you. Eisenhower has great tradition and they take pride in the school they represent and this weekend will be no different.
This year though, the Eagles have a 6’9 forward named Antonio Gordon who is the most talented big man in the PCI not to mention the entire state.
Gordon is the leader of Eisenhower and he has all the tools to help them get through a tough bracket and come out with the tournament championship.
Putnam City Original
PCO has been one of the surprises of the season early on as they have an 8-4 record and they rank #13 in 6A. There wont be a team in the PCI who has a better backcourt trio of Tre Carolina, KD Jolly, and Alfred Alkannama.
These three all bring something different but they all have the ability to make plays off the dribble and get by pressure.
PCO is a team you can’t press and they have bought into getting better and maximizing their team’s potential and the PCI is a great opportunity to show that.
OKC Storm
The Storm is one of the best home school programs in the nation and they always step on the floor a group of talented players.
Cooper Peterson is a talented newcomer who has played at the 6A level before. Peterson is a big guard who can handle the ball and his shot is improving year after year.
The Storm will be able to compete with anybody in this tournament due to their ability to develop young talent when they arrive in the program.
Putnam City West
Rondel Walker is a player who can give Trey Alexander of HH a run for his money as the best player in the PCI. The 6’5 wing is having big junior year and he has been great leader for this young Patriots group.
Walker is surrounded by elite shooting from Shelby Sampleton and Trentez Scales who both can get hot at any moment. This may be the best shooting group that West has had in this golden age of Patriots basketball.
As the host team, PC West will play with an extra pep in their step which could lead them to another PCI tournament championship.
Tulsa Union
Union is always one of the best coached teams at any level in Oklahoma. The Redskins are not as loaded with talented size like years before but they do have a talented scoring duo in forward in Quentin Harvey and guard Seth Chargois.
Harvey is a long big who has the athleticism to dunk on defenders around the rim but he also has good touch from three. Chargois can get hot quick and he can go on an individual scoring which can totally change the momentum of the game.
These are the types of years where Union is really dangerous because of their talented roster and their tendency to out execute the opposition.
Putnam City North
PCN is having a rough season so far but they have championship experience with Micah Thomas who is one of the most talented point guards in the region.
The senior guard has been asked to carry the program this year and he has not backed down from the challenge one bit. Every time you look up Thomas is scoring 30+ points a game.
PCN has a ton of young talent so the PCI is another opportunity for a young guy to step up and help contribute better on both ends of the floor.
Edmond North
The Huskies have also surprised some folks this year with some notable wins over top competition.
North has had some players step up this season to take their teams to the next level. For example, Elijah Mason is junior who has become a prospect to look out for.
Mason has exceptional athleticism on the wing and he also has a good midrange-pull up jumper. He already boasts a college ready body and he is not intimated towards to going to the rim with contact.
Do not be surprised if you hear about the Huskies pulling off an “upset” this weekend.
