In the Bishop McGuinness tournament, multiple threes were made, by multiple players. There were five that stood out.
Deer Creek, Senior: Miles Slater
Along with being the clear leader of the Antlers, Slater often lets it fly from long distance and was very successful with it. On the first two nights of the McGuinness Classic, Slater shot a combined 6-of-11 from three for 39 points.
Norman, Junior: Ben Emmert
Emmert’s first game in the Classic was special. He netted 3-of-4 of his threes and was Norman’s leading scorer. Although he didn’t score from three much in this tournament, he was a constant threat away from the basket, especially in the midrange.
Edmond Memorial, Sophomore: Sean Pedulla
Pedulla has been tasked with the daunting responsibility of running the Bulldogs offense at a young age. As a sophomore, he’s extremely poised on the court and never seems rattled. Also, Pedulla rarely makes mistakes and when he does, he tends to correct them by draining threes on the ensuing offensive possession. He did that throughout the McGuinness Classic.
Edmond Santa Fe, Senior: Kristian Khoury
Khoury is a senior and one of the leaders on Santa Fe’s team. In this tournament, he was never the player to constantly shower your team with threes, but the timeliness was unmatched. Every time Santa Fe needed shots from deep, he was typically the most reliable guy from beyond the ark.
Choctaw, Sophomore: Anthony Bowen
Just like Pedulla, Bowen is a sophomore and has been greeted with a ton of responsibility, especially on a team that hasn’t been great all season. They won their first game against Bishop McGuinness on Saturday and Bowen played a huge role in that. On Friday, Bowen’s play peaked our interest after he shot a perfect 3-for-3 from three on Friday night for 16 points.
