Continue ReadingThe regular season can often have its ebbs and flows and Evan Inglesby has certainly experienced that this year. The all-around 6-foot-3, 177-pound swingman has been on the ride this entire time with his Barlow High School teammates, but the junior has stayed strong. Inglesby came up big in the Bruins’ win over West Linn in the MLK Holiday Invitational and he know that more good times lie ahead.
“It was to great to come to this new facility and play a quality team, and most importantly come away with a win,” Inglesby said. “I felt we played well as a team, we moved the ball and got good shots, and came on top. We’ve had our ups and downs and we’ve played some good teams. But win or lose it’s been a good experience and come playoff time way down the road, it’s good for us to know what to expect with the physicality and the tempo of the game playing some of the best teams. It’s been good for us.”
Inglesby took on the offensive load for Barlow in the first half against West Linn, scoring 15 points. He was good from all three levels, sinking threes, hitting mid-range jumpers, and driving to the basket. Inglesby has become more aggressive with his offense and it’s been the result of a lot of work this past spring and summer.
“I feel like I’ve grown a lot over the off-season and things are starting to show with just the physicality and taking care of the ball,” Inglesby said. “I’m excited.”
College coaches have noticed. Since getting invited to the Prime Time Top 40 Showcase in the fall, he’s started to hear directly from more programs, notably Corban who has been in constant contact. This spring he’s hoping to visit Corban’s campus as well as that of George Fox, but it’s still early in the recruiting process for him. “I’m definitely open,” he said.
Instead he remains honed in on what’s ahead for the Bruins. Yes, the rematch with Central Catholic comes up next week on the 29th but Inglesby and his teammates are keeping it simple. “We need to play one game at a time,” Inglesby said. “Our league is full of teams that come out hard and scrap and hustle. So we need to play as a team, do our thing, and can’t look ahead going towards the playoffs.”
Inglesby currently ranks as the #27 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
