Continue ReadingDyson is one of the best 2020 prospects in the state. The 6’7 215 pound F is averaging 24 points per game. The thing that makes Dyson an elite prospect is his ability to contribute to his team in multiple ways. He’s averaging 7 rebounds a game and he attacks the glass. He can stretch the floor with his ability to knock down jumpers and 3-pointers as well.
With a high ceiling Dyson will only get quicker, faster and stronger. We believe that Dyson has all the intangibles to make it to a quality Division 1 school.
The Jordan High School Beetdigger lead his team as a sophomore in points and rebounds a year ago. When Dyson was a freshman he was a key contributor to his team. He has made some significant improvements to his game this off-season. The most notable improvement is in his ability to shoot the ball. He has been hitting over two three-pointers a game. “I’m a more confident shooter”. We expect that number to increase heading into region play.
When you see Dyson on the floor he passes the eyeball test. He has also caught the attention of a few schools.
Koehler currently holds offers from Portland State and Idaho State. Utah Valley, Creighton and Stanford stay in contact with Dyson as they have shown interest in him. Dyson is a high academic athlete that will continue to rack up interest as the season progresses.
When asked what he wants to continue to work on and improve, Dyson mentioned, “my shooting and ball handling”. With no lack of confidence in his ability to score anywhere on the court Dyson’s continued improvement will make him a tough task to guard. It is no surprise to see him pull up on 3’s or handle the ball. He is always working on expanding his game.
Defensively Dyson isn’t going to give anyone anything easy. “I want to take my man completely out of the game, so it can be more of a 4 on 5.
In region play Jordan will try to position itself to make a statement in a region that has two other teams with Division 1 players. Jordan has a chance to win their region. With a disappointing loss in the 1st round of the state playoffs last year Dyson will be one of the leaders that will likely help Jordan stay out of uncomfortable situations. “We need to closeout teams early”.
Jordan will have it’s hands full as they will play one of the top teams in 5A Skyridge next. They will have a tuneup game against West. Then they will then travel to Timpview to open up region play. Dyson believes that if they play the right way, they can win region.
Good luck to Dyson and his teammates the rest of the way.
