One of the Georgia representatives is Norcross High School out of Norcross, Georgia. The Blue Devils were making their third out of state trip coming into this showcase and were already on a four game winning streak after defeating a few region opponents back home.
Head Coach Jesse McMillan and his staff were looking to add to their win resume here in Springfield as they were matched up with one of the best programs out of the state New Jersey in Roselle Catholic (NJ). Roselle Catholic this year has been headlined by one of the best players in the country Kentucky commit 2019 F Kahlil Whitney and 2020 C Clifford Omoruyi and coming in with a 12-0 record.
That did not mean a thing to the Norcross Blue Devils. The Blue Devils were in control of the game from start to finish and kept their foot on the gas all afternoon in this one. They were led by their star player and one of the top players in the nation as well 2020 W Brandon Boston Jr. (pictured above) who led with a game high 26 points. USC signee 2019 PG Kyle Sturdivant also had himself game after finishing with 21 points.
Boston Jr. was on another level in yesterday’s contest and it began from tip off. Brandon has improved so much over the last year and has added more tools to his skillset. He was basically unstoppable; knocking down threes, super engaged on the defensive end which led to fast breaks, and showing his cutting to the basket abilities once again. It will not be a surprise if you see his name move up in some of the individual player rankings after this AAU season.
The Blue Devils though, who are now sitting at an 15-7 overall record on the year, will head back to the peach state and where they will host their own event next weekend, the Peachtree Corners Invitational. The PCI will feature some of the best programs in the state and out of the state next Saturday at Norcross High School on January 26th. Norcross will be matched up with Gray Collegiate (SC), a program they already defeated earlier in the year at the Chic-Fil-A Classic in Columbia, South Carolina.
