The two day event host some of the best programs around the country every single year and McEachern and Norcross finished with a combined 2-2 record over those two days.
McEachern came into the event ranking number one in the country in most polls. They defeated both Findlay Prep (NV) and Imhotep Charter (PA) once again. Their two wins improves them to a 12-0 record for the season and keeping their number one overall ranking. On the first day McEachern defeated Findlay Prep (NV) 60-53 and were led by Auburn signee 2019 F Isaac Okoro with 24 points and 11 rebounds. On the second day, the Indians and the Panthers of Imhotep Charter (PA) squared off in a rematch of the 2018 City of Palms Classic Championship and where McEachern defeated Imhotep Charter 68-47 to take home the title.
McEachern started off to a very slow and bad start and were trailing Imhotep Charter (PA) 31-16 at halftime. The second half was a whole different story for McEachern as momentum swung their way and they were able to walk away with a 62-58 victory. 2020 PG Sharife Cooper led the comeback and finished with a game high 25 points. Senior guards Alyn Breed and Quinton McElroy played very efficiently in their two days in West Virginia and are very good complementary players for this seasons McEachern squad.
The flu bug was hitting the Norcross squad badly as Xavier commit 2019 F Daniel Ramsey did not even make the trip to Wheeling and 2020 SG Kevon Estridge sat out for their second game against DeMatha (MD). The Blue Devils took a terrible lost to powerhouse Montverde Academy (FL) 88-56 in their first day at the Cancer Research Classic. That game is a game Coach McMillan, his staff, and his squad would like to forget. Their matchup with DeMatha (MD) was very impressive and while out with two key players, the Blue Devils were extremely competitve and put up a fight all game. Despite losing 70-67, USC signee 2019 PG Kyle Sturdivant (24) and 2020 W Brandon Boston Jr. (20) combined for 44 points.
