Donovan Ivory- 2019 Forward
Donovan Ivory has continued to show his talent. The Minnesota-Duluth commit scored 20 points and was all over the floor. Whether he was making a three, driving to the rim, or blocking a shot, Ivory did it all. Thursday’s game was just another example of why Ivory is considered one of the best players in the FVA.
Braeden Thies 2019 Guard
In the crucial win, Braeden Thies was the definition of a game-changer. Prior to Thursday night’s matchup, Thies had scored in double-digits just once in the entire season. In the Papermaker win, Thies was vital. The senior guard scored 13 points and showed off his smooth three point stroke. If it wasn’t for Thies’ contributions, Kimberly would not be standing alone at the top of the FVA.
Jacob Newhouse- 2020 Forward
On Thursday night, Jacob Newhouse looked like the best player on the court. Newhouse scored a game-high 20 points and dominated the paint. Once postseason play rolls around, expect Newhouse to become even more of a low-post force.
Keaton Ferris- 2020 Guard
Keaton Ferris, like many other of the star players in this game, got off to a bit of a slow start. Ferris did not have his best game, but he was still productive, scoring 12 points. The junior guard also provided one of the best highlights of the game. Ferris crossed over his defender and then proceeded to swish a three that sent the crowd into a frezy.
Reed Miller- 2019 Forward
Out of all of the top-notch players who struggled, Reed Miller had one of the toughest nights. The forward scored just eight points and struggled to get his shots to fall. At times, it appeared as if Miller’s shots were too open. Miller has been and extremely valuable player this year and he will need to regain his confidence quickly.
Jake Buchanan- 2020 Guard
After forcing some shots in the first half and only scoring two points, Jake Buchanan got settled in during the second half. Buchanan hit an early three that propelled him back into rhythm. Buchanan finished with 14 points in the Papermaker win.
Levi Nienhaus-Borchert- 2019 Forward
Levi Nienhaus-Borchert has continued to impress. Despite fouling out with 4:39 left in the game, Borchert made plenty impact before he was disqualified. The senior led his team in scoring with 17 points. Borchert was also able neutralize Jacob Newhouse when he was on defense.
Logan Pearson- 2020 Guard
Where did this guy come from? In possibly the biggest game of the season, Logan Pearson dropped a career-high 12 points and knocked down four threes. All of Pearson’s points came from beyond the arc. The last time that the 2020 guard scored in double-digits it was against De Pere on December 18th of 2018. In addition to scoring 12 points, Pearson also took a key charge with 2:38 left in the game. Credit Logan Pearson for doing exactly what he needed to do.
Charlie Jacobson- 2019 Guard
Charlie Jacobson came up clutch in the final couple minutes of the game. After Levi Nienhaus-Borchert fouled out, Jacobson made his presence felt. The 6’1″ guard went on a personal 8-0 run that gave Kimberly a 67-58 lead. That lead eventually proved to be too much of a deficit for Kaukauna to overcome
