With the win Bradley is still showing why it is one of the best teams in Central Ohio, at 8-0 on the season. The loss for Hayes may sting, but they’re still playing really well ball on the season at 7-2.
Five Game Takeaways:
Matt Allocco Is One Of The Best Around
Growing to a now 6’4 the Junior guard Matt Allocco is turning into the player some people thought he would. Holding multiple division one offers, that number should continue to rise. The Hilliard Bradley floor general was the smartest player on the court against Hayes, always making the right play. With a quick first step, getting into the lane is easy, where he can score at will. A solid defender in his own right, the bigger frame helps him just that much more. It will be interesting to watch the stud guard in his final two seasons of high school ball.
Bradley Has A Pesky Defense
For awhile now, the Jags of Bradley have been known for their solid defensive outings, and not much has changed. Working well against screens, and ball pressure, most teams will have trouble against Bradley. The entire team is well coached and takes pride in pestering defense. Whether it’s blocking a shot or taking a steal the other way, the Norris led team is going to fill up the stat sheet. Chris Mayfield is the anchor to it all, the junior workhorse is all over the place contesting every shot and after every loose ball. Impressively, even the young guys are highly active on defense, making lots of disruption.
Bradley May Have Another Good Norris Brother On Hand
With still some room to grow Keaton Norris should be the next big thing for Bradley. With his brother Braden off to Oakland for basketball, Keaton looks to continue the good Norris roots. The sophomore guard has a smooth release jumper, and is a high IQ player already. A solid on ball defender, it should be really fun to watch the younger Norris develop.
Delaware Hayes Has a Strong Trio Of Talent
With countless stud athletes in the past, this year the Pacers are led by three solid players. Nate Griggs, Paul Burris and Terin Kinsway all do major work for the Hayes squad. Combining for 33 of the 46 total points, Hayes knows who they heavily rely on. As they go is the deciding factor of how well the Pacers play. All three playmakers can score at multiple levels, it will be nice to see how far they can take this Delaware team.
Hayes Still Has Their Best Basketball Ahead
Through nine games with a 7-2 record, the Pacers are right where they want to be. Going above expectations thus far, expect Hayes to finish the second half of the season strong and continue to surprise people. With a favorable schedule and another matchup with Hilliard Bradley, Hayes is very much alive in the OCC-Cardinal. Lookout for Hayes, the Pacers may not be a team you want to see when February rolls around.
