The lanky 6-foot-5 guard’s expectations have come to fruition his sophomore year at the JC level and colleges are starting to come on board with his game. The 2016 graduate of De La Salle North Catholic has seen the perfect storm of good play and team wins lead to college possibilities for next year.
“Everything is good,” Christmas said. “I’ve gotten a few offers and we’re 13-1 and #22 in the nation.”
Christmas has received his first Division I offer from Chicago State. Others may follow suit soon. Eastern Washington will get an unofficial visit there on the 18th and Texas Rio Grande Valley may also get a visit. Texas Southern recently called and could be close to offering. Western Oregon has offered as well. Christmas has appreciated all of the interest so his initial thought of making a commitment on Christmas Day will no longer take place.
“I wanted to but a lot of schools are now starting to jump on board,” Christmas said. “So I’m going to wait it out.”
So far this season, Christmas has been averaging 12.7 points and 3.5 rebounds for Sheridan, and it’s largely been in a reserve role. He broke down what’s brought college programs to his doorstep.
“I’ve been showing way more athleticism and aggression,” Christmas said. “I’m knocking down my shot as well. Plus, we’re winning games so lots of coaches are tuning in.”
Christmas and his Sheridan teammates will start play again after Christmas break on January 9.
