The 6-foot-2 guard is best when slashing, but has also worked to improve his assists numbers this season.
“My main strength is attacking the basket. I can facilitate pretty well for my team. My coach preaches to me that I need to attack and get to the hoop as much as possible,” said Hillam.
He spent a lot of time this past summer working out on his own, and his ball-handling was an area of emphasis while playing team camps with Carbon, “I was just non-stop basketball,” said Hillam.
Now, he’s leading the Dinos, and hopes he can help get them some more wins as 2019 unfolds.
“I feel like I’m playing pretty well. I’m the main facilitator for the team. So, being able to attack and open up for everybody else and give them a chance to put the ball in the hole is what I do,” said Hillam. “I’m the guy that kind of runs the show.”
He added: “Our main focus is winning region, and just playing better as a team.”
After high school, Hillam will take a two year Latter-day Saints mission. Then he hopes he can play college hoops somewhere. There’s one school that has him on their radar.
“Basketball is my main priority for sure. I’m talking to USU Eastern a little bit, and they said they might have a spot for me once I get off my mission,” said Hillam. “I also run track and I have a lot of opportunities in that, but I’d prefer to play basketball.”
