Recruiting Report: Jason Gibson (2019)
Scan the list of available point guard in the DMV region, and not many can match the on-court resume of Sidwell Friends senior Jason Gibson. Gibson has evidently been in the gym all summer working on his game, and this showed during our recent venture to his team’s open gym. He talked recruitment and goals after the workout.
PH: Who’s been recruiting you hardest recently?
JG: “Bryant right now. I just had an in-home visit with them actually. They came through, and it was really nice of them to come out. Columbia is interested. I just took a visit there; really liked it.”
PH: What is the timetable for your decision?
JG: “I’m probably going to do that after the season. Going to keep working and see what happens.”
PH: What’s your role going to be like this year?
JG: “I’m going to do what I’ve been doing the past couple of years. I’m going to try to add a little more. I’ve been getting stronger and working on my game as much as I can. I know how difficult the season is going to be with me being the focus, so I’m going to have to work harder. I’m going to try to help my teammates get ready, and help them step up.”
PH: I noticed you did get stronger and quicker. What else have you worked on?
JG: “I’m just trying to be more crafty; add a little more to my game. Take shots that I know I can make. Try to have more confidence in myself.”
PH: What are your short and long term goals?
JG: “Short term is to win a banner this year. Long term is to keep working as hard as I can. Hopefully find the right spot for college, and try and take my game to another level.”
