Head Coach Ron Johnson of Davidson Day is a former college coach with stops including serving on the basketball coaching staffs at Georgia (2008-09) and Marist (2012-13). He was athletic director and basketball coach at Cannon School in Concord, North Carolina from 2004 to 2008.
Here is a look at this year’s team and some of the players to keep an eye on.
Jackson Threadgill, 6’4″ – Class of 2020; versatile perimeter player; will play everywhere on the perimeter (including PG) for us this year; tremendous shooter/scorer; excellent student; offer from James Madison…interest from UNC-Charlotte, App. State, Liberty, Davidson, Elon, and others.
CJ Huntley, 6’8″-Class of 2020; long/thin post player with great upside; moves well on the perimeter; runs the floor extremely well; great shooting touch out to the 3 pt. line; offer from James Madison…interest from App. State, East Carolina, and others.
Adam Brazil, 5’10”-Class of 2020; smart/savvy PG; shoots the ball well with great range; “pass first” mentally as a lead guard…very good penetrator; strong student.
Will Coble, 6’2″-Class of 2020; excellent shooter (catch and shoot, and off the dribble); has developed into a reliable ball handler; getting better each day.
Bryce Alfino, 6’3″-Class of 2021; very good perimeter shooter with enough size to be effective in the post both offensively and defensively for us; developing as a ball handler; will be counted on to defend multiple positions this year; good rebounder.
Luke Robinson, 6’3″-Class of 2020; tough/physical player; gets to the basket well; effective scorer inside the 3-point line…developing into a consistent 3 point shooter; solid rebounder; strong student.
Mark Breuning, 6’7″-Class of 2020; very active post player; runs the floor well; good shooter out to the 3-point line, also effective back-to-the-basket scorer; very good passer out of the post; multiple sport athlete (soccer, golf); excellent student.
